PS4 vs PC - Pros/Cons

I finally picked up my preorder prior to the 2nd beta phase and it was through one of greenmangaming’s sales.

I’ll definitely be picking up a new graphics card prior to launch since I could only reasonably play on medium graphics settings at 720p resolution.

Any new thoughts or decisions now that the first PC Beta has concluded?

They should make that an actual move. Make it an aerial move where her bust expands and gains a large hitbox as an homage to Karnov’s balloon in Fighters History.

I don’t see how this is a con for the PC. You’d still need to do this anyway if you chose the PS4 version instead…

Game ran fine on a GTX 560 Ti, AMD Phenom 9850 Black, 8 gigs ram, Win 7. I didn’t really stress out the graphics settings, but the game still looked pretty great at 1680 x 1050 and mostly medium options settings.

Not that I would do this in the real world when the game goes live, but I even tried playing on wireless for a bit and it did not entirely suck. Still had mostly playable games.

There is absolutely no cons about playing on PC. The beta even confirmed that you don’t even need a high end computer to run the game at all.
Even if you have to buy some new parts it will be less expensive than to buy the game( 70€ VS less than 50€), a new compatible stick (200€), a PS4 if you don’t have one (350-400€), plus the Playstation +(50€ a year).
Now everyone has a computer, changing parts is easy with internet, you have multiple choices that suits your budget.

The only inconvenience is that PS4 will be tournament standard so it won’t be compatible with standard controllers, but that only concerns a small fraction of the whole userbase. We’ll have to find a way to borrow a stick, or a controller.

I’m not hating or anything, I’m glad that Sony is involved in the game, I love the fact that we will be able to play between PC and PS4 (even tho i’d like to know if my opponent is playing with wireless or if he is a PC/PS4 user), but I don’t understand that people are like “Welp, guess i’ll have to buy a ps4 for the game then” without even thinking of the possibility to try it on PC.

PS4 is just simpler to purchase and use. Not having to check settings, buy parts or know shit about a computer. Some people just don’t wanna care about that stuff. Buy the PS4, get SFV and you’re good.

I’m actually getting both. But I feel that gameplay is so much more easier for me on a PS4 than it is with a PC. However, the reason why I also enjoy playing my SF games on the PC is because I like to mod the costumes and play with different ones every now and then. And it’s easier for me to carry a laptop with me around when I go on to trips or work than it is to lug a ps4 and controller everywhere I go.

Yeah, I can understand that, they don’t really care.

Getting it on PC, the mods, graphics, the cheaper price, my 360 stick working on PC, are reasons enough for me to get the PC version. I’m DONE buying consoles, this generation is a joke :L

As far as tournament standard goes, I doubt that’s going to be an issue, they’ll be practically identical, and if they’re not, guaranteed patches will be coming to fix that frame difference. If you’re thinking " Okay, if that’s true then, why didn’t they fix the PS3 versions frame delay difference from the 360 version?" Well, cross play is the main focus this time around, this generation of Street Fighter, it would be a broken system if one was slower than the other, or faster than other.

I can’t wait to make a mod for training stage, I can’t stand the SF5 training stage music, so i’m going to put the SF4 into it ! I’m still not sick of it, never gets old !

My conclusion is that I’ll rather play the game on my ghetto pc with a good monitor than on PS4 with a huge television that lags a bit.
I felt on medium settings the game looked close enough to the PS4 version, and being able to play on stick albeit having to use 3rd party software for that made it worthwhile for me.
Obviously the PC version needs some optimization but it’s basically the same game. Didn’t feel any differences between the platforms in terms of online play.

Hm…

Thinking maybe I should do some build guides for people who want a rig that can eke by on SFV for cheap.

Though, it does seem like people on the forums already decided on what format they’re getting the game on- so maybe that won’t be all that useful.

Maybe an upgrade guide?

I get it but man that’s so lazy, I’d rather burn more money on a shittier thing, probably buy a new stick and pay the idiot tax (PS+) because I might have to learn about computers in 2015.

It’s pretty fucking inexcusable to be so inept with technology that you cannot get a video game to run.

Man I forgot that PSN is pay to play now. lmao

So glad I don’t have to buy another console for Street Fighter this time around.

Data miners ruined the DLC character surprise. This is why we cant have nice things anymore. You cant co-release these games on these platform. Talk about ruining the surprise.

I’m too old to want to be surprised anymore. This isn’t Xmas, this is SF.

It was a bad idea for Capcom to have the placeholder data on the beta. They protected the identity of the remaining new character but screwed the up on everything else.

Oh, grow up and move on. Data mining is part of any patch analysis that a PC game has so it was only a matter of time.

F*ck 'em.

If you liked being jerked around, fine. The rest of us would like to get on with our lives.

We can still look forward to getting our hands on them.

Finished my PC build last weekend… Honestly was easier then I thought it would be. Had quite a decent steam collection due to me previously playing on Mac but finding a few gems in there or games that couldn’t really run on my system. If anyone is planning on building one or looking at certain builds let me know, Got some pretty sweet deals when I was searching out there.

What’re the specs? I’m looking to upgrade my graphics card in the near future.
