PS4 controller moves when I press l2

While I was playing monster hunter my DS4 started moving my character slowly left every time I pressed l2. I tried a few other games and it does the same thing on all of them. I also tried one of my brother’s controllers to see if it was my PS4 and his worked fine. I searched on-line for help and all I got was to use the disconnect button under the controller, which didn’t help at all. Anyone have a clue what the problem is or if it’s fixable?

Is there any loose pieces in there? Like if you shake it, it makes a rattling soung?

I can’t hear anything loose when I shake it.

You haven’t opened it up yet have you? If not you may want to see if your controller is still under warranty.

It’s actually the controller that came with my PS4. I got it on launch day so warranty is probably long gone. I have a friend that’s a computer engineering major I’m gonna ask to take a look at it this weekend. Thanks anyway.

Good luck seeing if you can fix it; if it’s a launch-day PS4 controller, and you’ve used it quite a bit, you might as well get a new one with the fancy front-facing LED as well. Would be easier, and probably better use of everyone’s time.

Also, no disrespect to your computer-engineering-majoring friend, but in all likelihood, he isn’t that much more likely to find the issue than if you opened it up yourself and had a look. Only mentioning it because my major was in computer engineering (in hardware, no less), and I can’t say that it has helped me that much in troubleshooting gaming/arcade controllers. :stuck_out_tongue:

So my friend couldn’t find anything wrong. He did however clean it out with a can of air and it started working again. I am so embarrassed that I never thought that could be the problem. Thanks for trying to help guys.
