PS360+ Xbox mode not working properly

Plinking is part of the SF4 engine and the game has evolved around it since vanilla. It is not some sort of hardware-related hack. It is present in all versions including arcade. The grey area is plinking on console using convenient face buttons wired to Select/Back to allow more styles of plinks, and even that isn’t that controversial.

Frankly if your PCB can’t plink properly it is broken. Input is as input does.

Has anyone tried this with the PS360 (non plus)? I have one lying around that I was planning on installing in my Virtua Stick High Grade.

I’m very surprised nobody else has talked of this problem… What dual modding options do the professional players use?

All the xbox360 hotboxes use ps360+ so I’m surprised this issue hasn’t been brought up.

Lots of people using PS360+ at Evo. Not hearing any complaints. Idk. I probably just such.

Or maybe you can learn to play without cheating plinking.

Friends don’t let friends plink.

I don’t see how not taking advantage of a exploit a issue.

If the game was never intended for plinking (as per Capcom’s official statement), then a Controller now allowing Plinking is an non-issue.
Yes I understand plinking was always there, Capcom been looking into fixing and even patching that Plinks will not work.

As of the Xbox One and PS4 the Plink would be gone. So I think Capcom needs to make Ultra SF4 on PS4 and Evo drops the horrific 360.

I am starting to think you are missing the main point here… Our PCBs are not working properly.

If there is something wrong with a PCB that will mess with my execution (no I don’t plink, but I’m trying to learn viper on HitBox) I believe that it should be addressed. I can do fierce feint fierce on stick, but when I moved over to HitBox it’s less consistent and I’m doing the exact same thing with my right hand its much less consistent. The only difference besides stick/buttons is the fact that I have a PS360+ in my HitBox. I’m not saying its all the PS360+'s fault entirely, because there is human error sometimes, but it does make it harder to learn viper when you dont know if the problem is you or the pcb dropping inputs.

Then learn to do a basic padhack and dual mod your stick.

I think you are missing the Point.

I have to go with Pnoy Pryde here. Don’t like the PS360+? Start learning how to do a pad hack and do a proper dual-mod.

If you are looking for sympathy for your PS360+, you only get disdain.
Seriously despite the easy of insulation, the PS360 really bough out the worst in the modding community.
A bunch of lazy modders with no skills and they feel entitled.

I never seen such a sorry such of undeserving people complain about so much.

You got a Grey-Market, easy to install, all-in-one solution PCB and you still want it to run flawlessly and be already updated for all the new next gen consoles.
Get out of here with those trash notions.

What official Capcom statement are you talking about? It still sounds like you are thinking of Back/Select plinking (aka B-linking or Select plinking), and not plinking in general which is a side effect of the how the game engine works.

Plinking works in SF4 just like negative edge or any other feature of the game engine’s input handling. Because of the way the game has evolved around this, you are at a distinct disadvantage vs other players if you can’t plink. It works using the normal face buttons and works identically on arcade and console.

Select plinking only works on console and was an accident. Alioune discovered this ~4 years ago. It lets you plink with a null input which means you get the advantage of plinking without the disadvantage of accidentally inputting a different button. It also lets you plink using buttons that would normally be unplinkable. This is impossible to do in the arcade version, unlike plinking.

I sticking to my statement

Anything else is just people making excuses for their bad game play.

OK… well, what I’m getting at is that “plinking” is a normal input. It just has a name in SF4.

So a controller that doesn’t “plink” is not capable of reproducing the inputs it is given. It drops valid inputs. In any other context this would be considered a bad thing so it shouldn’t be any different here.

Wow, you’ve been on quite a tear here. Disregarding your (pretty laughable) opinions on plinking, the PCB drops simultaneous button presses; not just plinking and kara inputs. As for being lazy and entitled, some of us are more interested in playing the games this site is dedicated to than messing around with the peripherals for them. I paid a premium for an easy solution because I’m aware of my limits and I value my time, and if I have no interest in electronics, I’m not sure why you feel we’re all so entitled for wanting to pay our way out of it and expecting a product working as intended in return? It’s a pretty simple concept, trading money for goods and services.

I suck at modding and electronics in general, and have no interest in it to boot, so my “punishment” should be that I’m not entitled to a working controller? I could say the same thing about you paying for any service or product imaginable that you don’t happen to have a passionate interest in. You went to an expensive restaurant expecting a nice meal? What a disgrace, you must clearly be an entitled little brat, just learn how to cook a Michelin star meal yourself. You need a mechanic to have a look at your car? If you can’t fix your own brakes you don’t deserve working brakes, walk or crash! Angry that your plane flew to the wrong country? Well, learn to fly your own plane, you spoiled child.

Trolls with too much spare time aside, I never found a fix to the issues with the PS360+ PCB and haven’t been able to play on 360 until now. Hopefully there will be a solution for the problem in the future. I was surprised to see this thread still getting posts, even if some of them were completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. I don’t go on SRK very often, but glad to see people have been reporting it and it seems like Akishop are paying more attention to it now.

off topic but lol at that guy who is seriously thinking that plinking = cheating

git gud scrub

I’m curious what else Darksakul considers cheating. Which ones are cheats and which ones aren’t? Kara-throws, option-selects, plinking without select, plinking with select, roll-cancelling, crouch teching, charge-partitioning, negative-edge 360/720 throw option selects? Hint: None of them.

Anyway I’ve practiced plinking on my hitbox for about 6 solid months now and I haven’t had any issues. I attempted to replicate the dropped input shown in the first video and with throwing/ex moves but with no luck. I’m running whatever firmware my hitbox shipped with 8 months ago.

You first.

I mostly going on about select/back Plinking, but I decided not to differentiate as my one huge issue with the FGC is that the games gone too META.
With all the concerns about controller lag, display lag, joystick holding styles/techniques, frame-counting, ect… the whole thing becomes sicking.
So I have no issues or morals about tearing into the issue.

Has anyone had their PS360+ actually cause problems for their xbox 360? Now for whatever reason my xbox 360 makes a weird noise when I try to start it and it won’t display on the monitor. Not only that, I can turn it on with my wireless controller but neither the wireless controller or the xbox 360 have that green light that indicates a controller is connected. I don’t even have a light indicating a controller is connected when I plug in one of my TEs.

Any advice or did my xbox just coincidentally brick right when I buy a new stick for it? It hasn’t moved or anything lately.
