alright so atm my ps360+ isn’t working, when it’s plugged into the computer it comes up with unknown device connect jibber jabber, and it wont register on xbox 360 and ps3. the led’s will flash once but nothing more after that. I’ve tried to go into bootloader to upgrade the firmware but it’s not working properly either. the led will stay lit and after 10 seconds the lights will rotate slowly instead of fast and still comes up as unknown device on pc…
If you have a selection of different length & quality USB cables then try those and re-flash the firmware. Failing that then IMO get a replacement PS360+.
Bootloader mode should be a fail-safe, so it’s a big warning sign if that’s not working correctly.
Noise on the line causes that kind of response from what I’ve seen/debugged. Swap your cable out to direct USB if you aren’t using it, and use a 6 foot cable or so as a sanity check and try again.
Also, if you aren’t already doing this, make sure you plug your USB cable into a port that is connected directly to the motherboard (the slots are vertical) on the back of your PC for testing purposes. Some PC’s have an extension on that back that will have horizontal slots or will have ports on the front of the PC. Don’t use those while testing as they might cause more issues. Same goes for laptops.
I have done some testing with different brands/lengths of cables with the PS360+ and Phreakazoid’s own Crossbone and I found that, at least with my particular PS360+, cable length didn’t play into it at all. At one point I had a 3 foot internal monoprice cable going into a neutrik and then to a 16’ Amazon basics cable and it worked fine using the front USB ports on my PC’s tower (and the side port on my laptop). I also tried a 15’ monoprice cable, a couple shorter monoprice/amazon cables and whatever brand cable my stick came with and all of them worked fine with my PS360+ (PC/ps3/360).
So if you still have issues after changing cables there is most likely an issue with your PS360+ even if you can get it to work with a shorter cable. I do wonder how many times a cable gets blamed when a board is defective.
Thus far I’ve only used the rj45 to usb connection so after work ill buy a type b usb cable I thing it’s called to test.
Also just to note this one was working fine in my Hori stick before I tried to install it into an atrox which seemed to chew up a 2nd one (bought a pcb for my mate but couldn’t flash the firmware since computer was being dumb and did the whole slow bootmode thing as well). I’ll probably try and solder a usb connection to see how that goes as well. Will keep posted.
On a side note, does one know what the atrox’s guide button cable is by per chance?
Honestly I’ve heard lots and lots of complaints of rj45 not working properly with the ps360+.
So it may be a worldwide problem with the board. Just take this with a grain of salt but focus attack has revived a lot of I mean alot of questions over rj45 not working properly with the new board revision released a couple months back
After a lot of testing. I’m finding the rj45 jack and as a pass through being somewhat inconsistent. On all systems. PC ps3 and Xbox 360. It would not connect 1 out of 20 tries for the 360 and ps3. Having a shortened cable didn’t cause any issues for the pc. However cable length I feel like was the biggest factor for the 360 and ps3 connectivity tests
Cable length is always an issue, especially with the 360. Akishop selling 15 foot long cables sets a precedence that makes people think that ANY cable will work at 15 feet… It’s just not the case.
an update, Have bought a a-b usb cable ( 5 metre or so) and the pcb has no issues connecting and being recognised on my pc and on xbox & ps3, even tried it with the 2nd pcb so it seems just the rj45 ports are no good. they were kinda loose anyways but ohh well.
I’m assuming there must be a certain reason as to why the rj45 port does this but as long as its working im not fussed
I should have mentioned I tested all three with 2 different cables both a 13 foot one and 6 foot one. Both cables resulted in the same 1 out of 20 didnt connect to the consoles
Op switched to USB so it seems like he didn’t have much better results than you. Glad to hear that it’s more an RJ45 thing - I was starting to think I really messed something up building my last few sticks…
My primary stick is running a PS360+ over RJ45, as it has been for at least four months now. No issues to speak of.
I cut and crimped my own cables, tested them rigorously for mechanical strength, and sealed the ends with epoxy before slipping the boot into place. All of my cables are 8’ or shorter.
PC, PS3, 360, and PSX all work flawlessly (despite the well-documented issues with many PS2 titles, namely Cave games).
Both of the RJ45 USB cables I have on hand were previously tested working cables found in a lot at goodwill (seven or so for $2). I believe most USB cables use 28/24AWG or 28/28AWG conductors (smaller diameter for data); I have functional specimens of each. The 28/24 is 8’ and the 28/28 is 6’ in this case.
The PSX cable was a tested working cable sourced from a “performance” brand controller which had been cannibalized. This cable is also 8’.
I just wanted to double check and make sure I wasn’t missing out on something great. I still can’t believe I never thought of Epoxy on the ends to better hold things in…
I made my RJ45 -> USB cable from a USB 2.0 AmazonBasics one, since I have a ton of those.
Going to pick up a PS2 extension cord for making the RJ45 -> PSX cable.
EDIT Updated the firmware, and it seems to register more often now. Also I looked at the PCB for the PS360+ and one of the 8 solder pins has this cold solder blob that looks like it barely touches the PCB. So that could be the cause of my issues as well. Too lazy to open up the stick right now though…
Hello guys I’m new here (Brazil), but to solve the problem is simple take the folder of PS360 update files + and place within the atmel program folder flip and the program should also be opened in x86 program files never for desktop … the uSB cable has no problem used a 3 feet low quality (y)
