PS360 problem

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have a PS3 Mad Catz TE-S Fight Stick, and I recently put in PS360 board in it. I did the solder job for the turbo and home button.

The stick function fine except for a little problem of the Home, and Turbo Button share the same functionality. What I mean by that is Home button acts as home, turbo, and console switching button. The turbo button also does the samething. THe lights for the turbo also don’t work anymore, is that what happens ?

I was browsing through the forums, and I noticed that people said to connect the vcc from the board to the PS360 board. Is this true, and will it also power up the lights too ?

If anyone encounter this before, or if you have any ideas of fixing this problems please let me know =D

P.S. I can try to get pictures up A.S.A.P I have midterms atm so I dont have much time to open the stick up.

Thanks

No, if you connect VCC from TE board to PS360, the lights will not work.

Please check your wiring, it sounds to me like you might’ve accidentally soldered Turbo+Home together.

Also don’t forget to have a ground point from TE board to PS360.

Hey Kik

I think my wiring should be ok, I don’t have time at the moment for actualy picture but the picture below where the **solid circles **are is where the pts the solder was done at. So I have a wire into turbo, wire into home, and two wires in GND. I think those solder points are safe. Let me know If I am a wrong.

Um… the solid black spots are for Guide (signal) and Guide (ground).

Where are these leading to?

PS360 doesn’t support the TE’s LEDs, so those will not power on, unless if the buttons are still connected to the PS3 PCB. But that’s a lot of extra work from some lights, to be honest.

Solder to the open circles, to the side on the right, then you will have soldered guide. If you want turbo, solder to where the left orange wire is, again, solder it onto the right side

You must connect VCC to power the PS3 PCB to work with the dual modding. You must connect ground. You only need to connect one ground. Connect VCC to where the red USB wire was. Connect ground to where the black USB wire was.

Sorry I should of said the picture is just a reference. those were the spots that were used for both turbo and home. Wish I have pic to post to where the wires go into. Basically all I can explain is that is the top solder point on each side would goes into the turbo and other top goes into home and bottom pt’s goes into gnd on the ps360 board. I’ll try to get pics soon to illustrate what I am saying

Just curious are my pt’s incorrect ? Those are the pt’s use on both guide and turbo. if I change it to your spots, my turbo would just as turbo and my home would just be home?

Thanks

You’re going to definitely need to hook up the VCC and ground from the TE’s board to the PS360. Alternatively, there are also good points on the back of the board to solder to to tap both guide and turbo. That way you don’t have to be so precise in soldering that home/turbo button.

Hey guys,

Here some pics of how it look solder and where the wires go into.

It’s a PS3 TE, which means you’re actually dual modding when you solder to the PS3 board. So I’d bet you may be violating one of the golden rules.

Hey toodles,

Sorry new to this modding stuff. Whats the golden rules you speak of?

From toodles’ cthulhu/chimp thread

Misc:
Q: What are the golden rules?
A: The two golden rules of dual pcb mods:

  1. All pcb’s must be common ground.
  2. All pcb’s must be powered at all times.

If you’re going to use the smoosh buttons on the ps3 board, you need to either power the board or cut the traces so the electronics on the ps3 board dont try to take power from the signal lines.

Follow this to the letter http://shoryuken.com/f177/-akihabarashop-jp-now-open--108982/index373.html#post10079355 or else you’ll just waste your time… if you use the connection points on the back of the Turbo panel you’ll have an easier time as well.

Oh so basically I’m suppose to use the VCC( to power) and GND from where the USB was and connect that to PS360 and remove the 2 ground wires from the solder pts since I’ll be using a common ground. That should fix my problem?

Thanks for all the info guys apprciate it =D

Correct.
