So I’m trying to make my HRAP3 and PDP Versus Pad into swiss army knife controllers, with maximum console coverage. Obviously they both already to PS3, I want them to do Wii U and 360. Ideally Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, etc., but Wii U and 360 are priority.
To that end, I’m trying to wrap my head around the best way to do this. I’ve got crap soldering skills, so I’d like to stay away from that as much as possible, I’m definitely open to having somebody mod something up for me. I was looking at the PS360+, because it covers most of the bases, and looks really easy to setup. Which leads to my question: how’s the compatibility with adapters on the PS360+? Could I use various PS2 adapters to get some better console coverage, e.g. PS2-Wii adapter to get it working on Wii U, and whatever else I can adapt PS2 to? Any help on this would be awesome!
First off forget the PDP pad, its exceptionally difficult to mod with.
For the Most universal Controller with maximum console coverage, get a Mad Catz Fightpad for the Xbox 360, a MC Cthulhu, and Imp 2.0 PCB, a Pii Wee PCB and possibly a DB-15 connector.
Adapters will work for PS2 controllers, but adapters are known to have issues. The Pii Wii PCB works like a Classic Controller/ Wii Arcade Controller board and plug right into a Wii Remote.

Damn that’s a bummer about the PDP pad, even just wiring it up to a breakout box wouldn’t work? The PDP pad is the only one of its kind, short of the relatively expensive PS2 Neo Geo CD pad. Suppose I could always save up for one of those + adapters.
What issues do adapters have? Is that particular to using something like a PS360+ with an adapter, or just PS2 adapters in general? I really like the idea of a PS360+ with adapters for Wii U, because there’s no soldering involved, so I could easily do it myself, whereas the other ways require some external help, which I’m not against, but it’d certainly cost more, and be more complicated.
I appreciate the help!
If you cut all the signal traces and wired it to a breakout, that would work. The problem is that the mcu that runs the pad doesn’t hold all of the inputs at Hi-Z when it isn’t connected to the xbox, so any other board thinks that the buttons are always being held. You would lose all of the original functionality and it would be a pain to find a good connecter (I would try something like a mux/demux pair and use the USB cable with a custom end) but it is a viable plan.
@Sal_The_Tiller Hmm, that sounds like a very weird design. I figured you’d just be able to tap right into the switches for the buttons and the stick, but it sounds like they’re not easy to get to either.
I’m wondering if it might be easier to take the USB output of the damn thing through a Raspberry Pi or something, then output over the GPIO pins! I’m sure the lag would be off the charts though.
I’d really like to get that PDP pad working on other consoles, I suppose I’ll have to live with just a multi-console arcade stick! Not too bad!
I’m still wondering if someone’s actually tried a PS2 to Classic Controller adapter on the PS2 out of a PS360+, because if that works, then I’m all set.
