I put up a gallery of photos for the PS3 version.
I have a few notes about it.
The manual says about the front USB ports:
2 USB ports are included for connecting headsets and keyboards for online game play.
Do not connect any other accessories except headsets or keyboards.
HORI is not responsible for any damages or data loss due to mishandling of the product.
Do not connect any recording medium (i.e. USB memory) since the USB ports have over current protection.
I plugged the stick into my PC, which detected a USB Game Controller and a Generic USB Hub. When I plugged in an SD card, it did not register. Okay, well, they warned me. So I plugged in a keyboard, but that also did not register. Odd. Same situation on a PS3.
When I unplugged the stick, then plugged it back in with the devices already attached to the front USB ports, they were properly detected. After this initial detection, I could connect each recognized USB device at will while the stick was already connected, even on, say, the PS3, when I had done the detection on a PC. It seems like the PCB remembers the device.
USB flash devices seemed to work fine, btw, but be aware of what the manual states.
My HHKB2 did not work with the front USB ports, maybe because it implements a USB hub also. Other USB keyboards worked fine.
The heat shrink covering on the quick connects works pretty well. It stays in place, yet bites your fingers less than the bare metal. I was able to get all of the connectors off with no tools on the first try.
Reference photo for reconnecting the top panel:
Slide the top panel to the right when removing it, or the JST connector on the joystick will get caught on the case. I see Dremels in many SCV case’s futures.
The JLF does get a proper connector.
It seems like a pretty solid stick, especially for $99. I haven’t modified this one; I ordered a 360 version for that. There seems to be enough room for a Neutrik RJ45 receptacle next to the cable bay.
