PS3 was yielding an error message which stated that my data packets could not be handled by the router … size issue … .altering the MTU would help alleviate that
however… I am not wholly convinced that I needed to do that b/c all three components have dynamic modes for allocating MTU size as far as I know…
Shungo - want to walk us through what you mean by ‘everything’ so we can help you trouble shoot?
Robdog007 - not sure what the norm ‘should’ be but yes I too see very few good connections… but from what I recall in other online games… the lobby is commensurate.
Actually the PS3 was yielding an error message which stated that my data packets could not be handled by the router … size issue … .altering the MTU does help alleviate that
however… I am not wholly convinced that I needed to do that b/c all three components have dynamic modes for allocating MTU size as far as I know…
Yeah Dood had helped me open ports on my old modem and I did so on this one as well. I have Nat 2 but I want 4 BARS. People have told me that I have 3 BARS.
My question is, how can I allow all DMZ? I see the Allow All Applications(DMZplus mode) option on my Firewall Settings but when I select it I get The selected device has a static IP address.DMZplus requires that the selected device use DHCP to obtain its IP address.
Ok, so to use DHCP would I need a computer? Because I do not have one, only my PS3. Am I shit outta luck? What do I do?? Btw, I have a 2Wire Gateway 2701HG-B modem with AT&T Fastaccess DSL.
Please, someone help me out.:looney: Thanks in advance.
I’ve been trying to get NAT Type 2 setting for the past few days. I’ve tried creating a static IP address, forwarding the necessary ports and doing the DMZ thing but I still get fucking Type 3. If my RE5 and MGO games are affected, I’m not even going to try SF4 until I can get this down. Can someone help me out here?
Thanks for the offer, but that’s a huge if. I have a Netgear router with a Motorola modem and AT&T DSL.
Also, if anybody has a Netgear router, when I’m forwarding these ports say for port 80 do I put that as the starting and ending port? On the first page in post #21, Yeah Dood 120% says one of the ports for TCP is 10070-10080 so I assume that means the starting and ending ports in that instance?
You should be able to log into your modem. My IP address to log into my modem is 192.168.1.254. Yours might be different.
One of the things I had to do in order to get NAT2 is to set my modem in “Bridge Mode”. This link shows you how to do it if you have a similar looking interface:
First thing to do is to make sure you write down your user ID and password that you use to access your internet service via PPPoE. You will need this information to configure your router.
You’ll also need to be able to log into your router. My IP address for the router is 192.168.0.1. Once you get in, you should see an option somewhere (don’t know where until I get the model number Netgear router from you) where you can enter in settings for PPPoE. This is where you enter in the userID/password information you wrote down from your modem.
If you can give me a screenshot of the netgear interface I can tell you where to enter this information.
What this is essentially doing is turning off all the DHCP/Routing crap on your modem, and letting the Netgear router do all of the routing, like it’s supposed to. Even if you were to open the ports on your Netgear router, it’s still not going to work if you have DHCP services still running on your modem. Setting the modem in Enternet Bridged Mode turns off DHCP, and hands over the controls to the Netgear router.
I’m far from being a networking guru, I just did tons of digging of this stuff on the internet and researched.
I don’t think I have a PPPoE account, because I don’t have to enter any information to log on to the internet. I know how to log in to my router, that won’t be a problem.
Actually I asked my mom, and she told me the password to the user ID for AT&T, would that be the PPPoE? I’m confused, anyways here I hope I’m not screwing myself by giving out information. I don’t know dick about this stuff.
Hey guys. I have a wireless router. I have the game installed. I have Nat 2. I can connect and play matches online, but I still feel like I disconnect more than I should…often inbetween rounds…never during a round. I also have difficulty connecting to matches.
Is there anything I should be looking into with the router settings if I have NAT2 already?
