PS3 Backwards compatibility controller use

I just bought a PS3 for the only purpose of running Capcom VS SNK 2 on it… the game loads perfectly however… I can’t use my fightsticks… Is there a way I can use any fully loaded sanwa fightstick that I don’t currently already own or maybe mod one that I have to run on this PS3 in PS2 mode or maybe buy anything at all to make this works. I need fightsticks for CVS2. PLEASE HELP.

someone please help me out here… PS3 <-> fight stick problems

What stick/pcb are you using? My Hori RAP3 worked fine on my old ps3 in ps2 mode before it ylod’d on me.

Qanba Q4 eLive Pro and MadKatz TE Round 2 SSF4

Hmm. I know my pal’s TE S edition stick worked on my old ps3 as well when we used to play SF Alpha Anthology and SF Anniversary Collection all the time. I would assume that any Madcatz stick would work. Maybe it’s a game specific thing? I was also able to use my stick with all of the DBZ budokais in ps2 mode as well. It’s odd to say it’s a game specific thing though since I know that several other ps2 games have worked fine with me on a stick.

I don’t get it, I’m so very confused. I don’t understand why a qanba PCB wouldn’t work.

Do you own any other ps2 games to test around with? Even if it’s a non-fighting game it should still at least detect button presses and stick movement.

I just tested out megaman anniversary collection and its the same thing. No fight sticks work… just the controllers…

Well, wait. Have you tried your sticks with any actual ps3 games to see if they work? That might be another thing worth testing.

all my sticks work I use them all the time. just not in PS2 Mode.

I mean like is this the only ps3 you own? Or do you own another ps3,but have haven’t used your sticks with the backwards compatible model yet?

I know that Hori, The Cerberus and all of Toodles boards like the Cthulhu and Chimp are confirmed for backwards compatibility playing PS2 games on the PS3.
I am not sure with Mad Catz. Qanba are not PS2 compatible on the PS3.

I can at least confirm that a Madcatz TE S stick works with a BC ps3. I’m not sure about any other models though.

Damn it now I gotta buy 3 more sticks. Can you link me to the best stick that is confirmed for backwards compatibility that’s all sanwa please.

Save yourself some money and just put a ps360+ in one or more of your current sticks. No need to blow more money on a set of entire new sticks, man. That’s just silly.

I agree get a after market PCB like a PS360+ or one of the many boards from Toodles http://godlikecontrols.com/

Haven’t tried a TE, but Hori sticks work perfectly with CvS2. I should know, Bas was using mine to play CvS2 a few weeks back when he was over here on vacation.

If I remember correctly, Mad Catz TE Rnd1 did not work. Neither do anything that uses the Paewang board (Paewang Revolution, Datel Arcade Pro, etc).

Darksakul: maybe this (info about PS2 backwards compatibility) could be info that could be added to the “What Stick/Controller Should I buy” thread for PS3- and PS3-compatible multi-console controllers or sticks?

Probably not relevant to the op’s question, but the stock Madcatz TE Rnd 1 did not work for any of my PS2 games (including CvS2) when I tried them on my old CECHE01 PS3 (MGS4 bundle).

I will consider it, I have to spend some time researching it and comping what is confirmed to work.
I know for PS2 to PS3 adapters, its the adapters that support home button use (usually on the adapter) that usually allows PS2 compatibility.

The Whole thing boils down to re-sychning the controller and if the controller does what the PS2 game wants to “hear”.

I wonder if the 20, 60 and 80 GB models differ for backwards compatibility when it comes to game controllers.
