Ps3 2.6 update + sumoto converter

yeah 2.71 they can call it 2.booty hole I dont care i just want my flipin adapter to work again

Dude… lol, you need to step back and rationalize a little bit.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, its like you’re calling up warner brothers and complaining because the movie you torrented and illegally downloaded isn’t working on your PC.
It is the same concept. Sony does not get payed and does not license these converters you buy, so when you go and buy something that Sony does not even license and it stops working and you complain about it, what exactly are you complaining about?

Sony: Yes sir, how can I help you?
Person A: Yeah this converter that I bought off of eBay that came from China that you completely do not support and do not license, it doesn’t work on my PS3 after your latest update and I want you to fix that.
Sony: …

Really lol. :hitit:

My advice would just be to move onto another adapter. The HAIS adapter from dealextreme.com is working perfect with me.

Late to the party

Long time lurker and very rare poster. This is what I wrote to them after their initial response directing me to the link that says SCEA isn’t responsible for anything that it does -

**Good Morning Marcelo,

The linked article doesn’t help resolve the technical issue. Rather, it just reiterates that it’s not SCEA’s/Playstation’s fault for the error. If it weren’t for the fact that previous patches prior to 2.7 allowed the adapter to work, I’d say that your attached link as an excuse would be plausible (not necessarily acceptible) and out of your hands. However, since the previous patches did allow the adapter(s) to work, it seems that SCEA management and software engineers specifically designed this patch to disable the compatibility of 3rd party adapters. I wouldn’t have an issue with this if Playstation had arcade style joysticks on the market. However, since they don’t, and the ones that are on the market are going for 4 to 8 times retail from random countries on eBay, I’m going to assume that SCEA just stuck it to the niche fighting game market because you guys can’t get your act together. This game has been out for almost 3 months now and not one retail outlet (EB, Toys R Us, Gamestop, Best Buy etc…) carries a PS3 joystick. Please inform your marketing, sales, R&D and upper level management that they suck at their jobs collectively and individually. I hope that the recession kicks their paygrades down 3 or 4 scales. If any one of those teams had a modicum of common sense, they would have waited for this element of the patch to come out AFTER PS3 only joysticks became readily available to consumers. I’ve seen LICENSED Playstation 3rd party peripherals that no longer work with this patch. Seriously, who over there isn’t paying any frickin’ attention?

Congratulate the foresight of the 3rd graders in marketing that they have found yet another way to piss off your loyal customer base and fanboys. Oh yeah, please forward this email to Associate Product Marketing Manager ****** and tell him to straighten up or I’ll come over to San Fran and shave his head some more. Don’t worry, it’s not a real threat. I’m his 2nd cousin. It doesn’t change the fact that I wanna whoop his ass for this crap. I can’t say that I wish everyone at SCEA harm. However, I do wish that the parties responsible for this screwup get beaten with the magic unstupidity stick. **

After the above email, I sent a follow up link -
**The link you should have provided for tech support should have been this:

For those defending the patch, you might have something to it with the exception of the fact that the higher eschelons of corporate didn’t anticipate having joysticks available for this game. More importantly, those who say it’s not SCEA’s “fault” because we’re using 3rd party peripherals and the bricking issue/non-compatibilty is an unintended consequence are mistaken. This patch was purposeful.

To this day, there is no accessible retail outlet that sells a PS3 arcade style fightstick. Everyone here knows that. Hell, without e-Bay, nobody on the PS3 network would be using a joystick at all and none of us would have BPs over 5000 or even think we could wander around G-2 on the high end. If Sony America had any kind of forethought at all, they would have made sure that the market was ready with DDR pads, Guitars and arcade style joysticks before making this patch. Bare minimum, they should have at least one joystick available somewhere. If they did, I wouldn’t complain about this patch either.

I just got a TE MadCatz stick by luck and now don’t really care. I also have a new in the box SE MadCatz stick if anyone in the D.C. metro area is in the market for it (see http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/tag/1154840078.html if interested).

fuck i just ebayed a sumoto like 40 minutes ago because i read on a post it’s really good. Now im out like 11 bucks. Fuckin a’.

Sumoto and Tac adapters work again in PS3 firmware 2.80. Please note Sony did not do anything to fix this issue. Firmware 2.70 was crap and 2.76 was an update to that so that didn’t do anything. 2.80 is a whole new firmware built from scratch so TAC/Sumoto now works fine as usual. I hope this does not happen again, I have not played Street Fighter 4 since 2.7 was released about 3 months ago.
