Ps2 game on panasonic plasma tv..NO LAG PLZ?

ok Ive been out of all this for a long time. what kind of ‘vga box’ will let me use a ps2 on flat panel monitors without minimum lag? trying to play dat OG mgo1 but I really dont feel like buying a crt tv or even have room for another tv just for one game which was JUST revived(and its casual).

my panasonic tv has hdmi and hd component

Most PS2 games output 480i video, to my knowledge. From what I researched a while ago, I would say either the XRGB-3 on B1 mode or the DVDO iScan Duo… The XRGB-mini Framemeister adds a bit of input lag – 2 frames, I guess – so I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to actively avoid lag.

The iScan Duo is comparatively expensive as hell… :stuck_out_tongue:

From what I gathered, the iScan VP20/30 + ABT102d or the iScan VP50 should be very good choices, but they’ve been discontinued.

Oops, I didn’t pay attention to your comment about there being HDMI and video component. Are you sure there is no VGA input? Without VGA, the XRGB-3 is off the table…

no vga…

wasnt there another device for like $40? some kind of transcoder or something. I cant remember the name at all but it was popular around here on srk.

was talking bout this

I may just use a crt monitor then. I actually have 2 left over from random projects.

Just play your old games on CRT…If you have an arcade cab, you can play it using viletim console to jamma adapter…

Usually Plasmas are pretty good when it comes to input lag. Just put it on Game mode.

I don’t know what “minimum lag” is to you, but I doubt this $55 Chinese box has only 1-2f of lag.

Not to mention your panel will add more lag due to needing ADC from a VGA signal.

Why don’t you buy a BC PS3? Then you can run on HDMI without adding lag…

AFAIK, PS2 games running on PS3 equal 2-frame extra input lag.

What about projectors?
I’m actually trying to play the same game

If you want High quality PS2 images on a LCD HD TV for your PS2?

Either get Component cable for the PS2 (if your TV supports that)
or (NOT CHEAP) get the PS1/PS2’s RGB comaptible Scart cable and XRGB Framemeister (and a compatible scart adapter)
XRGB 2, XRGB 2 Plus, XRGB 3 and the XRGB-mini will convert the 240p RGB (@ 15 hz) image to a either VGA or in the Case of the Mini HDMI image for your TV.

AVOID the $55 Chinese image upscallers, if you really need the Chinese scallers I got one I willing to part with

I was a bit saddened when I learned that the XRGB-mini Framemeister adds a little bit of input lag… Otherwise I think it would be flawless as far as I noticed.

There is some lag introduced, but it is minimum. The XRGB series functions as a Line Doubler instead of a Upscaller which minimizes lag.
You have more Lag from the HDMI connection on your HD TV than you would with the XRGB-mini Framemeister.

Only 100% to avoid lag is to use a CRT screen set up, preferably a Broadcast industry monitor like a Sony PVM or a Older Arcade Monitor.

Well, assuming you’re stuck with something that is not a CRT monitor/TV, it seems to me that, provided you have a VGA input and the signal is accepted, the XRGB-3 on B1 mode is the way to go, instead of the XRGB-mini Framemeister…

And a monitor/HDTV that has less than 1 frame of lag. http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

Well I can’t comment on the Mini or the XRGB 3, I used a XRGB 2 Plus for my setup.

The mini adds less than a frame, just add that to your TV’s lag. If you do it right you can be just under or just over a frame total.

ps2 component cables

no reason to do anything else

Yeah, enjoy the [details=Spoiler]decidedly laggy[/details] deinterlaced and upscaled 480i video.

incorrect, its closer to 22-24ms.

hd box pro is 2 frames
