Is it just me being crap and out of practice, or does the ps2 version CPU (max difficulty) difficulty have a much tougher AI than the Arcade/DC counterparts? I’ve been seeing a lot more double-parries and bitching reversals by the CPU. I used to hammer the CPU over and over on the DC version…
AI difficulties can actually be configure in the arcades…
That’s not even an answer. When was the last time you saw CPU makoto do st.lk -> sa1 and Akuma’s mk dive kick->cr.mk->sa1 on DC on max difficulty? I don’t think I ever witnessed it.
i’m positive that the ps2 AI throw techs more than the DC AI.
also, it likes to parry the first part of ibuki’s SAI, in the DC version they would always block it.
i play in arcades…
I’ve done Yun’s lp, lk, mp, jab shoulder on the CPU Ken at the arcade. And what happens?
Block. Down red parry. Parry. Parry. SA2 in Yun’s face = dead.
CPU likes to down red parry Yun’s chain combo. All of them will do it. But… some will miss & get hit. Go figure.
And I’ve seen st.lp/lk XX SA many times at the arcade. Like Alex doing st.lkXXSA2. Makoto’s st.lkXXSA1 is pretty common too. And I know for certain that the difficulty at the arcade is NOT at level 8.
DC’s AI is different from the arcade though. For example, at the arcade, from full screen, a CPU Dudley will do a jab MGB, wait a second, then do a fierce MGB. Every time. They fixed that in the DC version though. Not too sure about PS2 though.
Limegreenninja- it tries to parry Ibuki’s SA1? Wow. I need to see this.
I was gonna post this question too, when I realised somone has already asked this question.
Yeah, the AI on PS2 is A LOT harder. In the arcades (which the repair guy has set to max difficulty to reduce play time on the machine), the difficulty is set to max, but the CPU will rarely ever parry Denjin-Hadouken. In fact, only Gill ever parries it, and still only infrequenly.
However, on the PS2, I get my Denjin-Hadoukens parried before the third last character. and fully parried too.
It’s just interesting that the PS2 AI is smartened up. Probably to give homeowners more of a challenge since buyers of the game are probably good at 3rd Strike already.
YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH then it’s good to play the computer on the ps2 version. I THANK CAPCOM FOR THIS REALLY I DO.
Its never smart to get too used to playing the computer, on any difficulty. You get set into patterns, u take those patterns into a real match against humans, you’re done.
Just make sure u supplement your comp playing with human experience is all i’m sayin
The CPU has added style in PS2.
CPU Akuma: I do random Deadly Double against grounded Akuma, Akuma parries first hit xx DP xx SA2 for KO. Next match, Akuma parries first hit, STANDS THERE waiting for next hit (takes over a second for it), parries THAT xx SA2, KO.
Tell me that that isn’t the greatest taunt.
I can beat the PS2 version on level 8 difficulty in about 45 continues.
thats it?!
the counter on mine broke
Yeah like for instance… you cant rush up to and throw the computer because it will punch you in the nuts 99% of the time.
Though a real person will fall for tick throws or dash forward throws at times.
I remember when M. Bison would piss the hell outta me in SF2 :
Still, I think super-hard AI is a good thing. It’ll make the game more interesting. This new AI makes me wanna buy a ps2 just for 3S. Heh heh.
Damn, now it sounds like I was bragging. :bgrin:
I wonder how many continues Daigo uses to beat the game…
If the AI is so good in 3s then why does my stungun always connect on wake up and how come i can ddt my way to victory with alex 100% of the time?
yeah i wouldn’t say the AI is THAT hard…for sure way better then most fighters but once you get good with characters you can deal fairly easily.
lol I still laugh when the dumb computer AL gets hit by electric snake (Necro’s SA) 100% of the time. Dreamcast version
SF3 in PS2 CPU is easy as hell
i just want someone to flame your screen name so badly…
