coN: VF5 for some odd reason requires Analog, so the PS1 Digital PCB is no go. BUT DR on the other hand (along with Power Smash 3 / Virtua Tennis 3) accept Digital.
However this was before the FW, I’ll tryout VF5 again without using the analog button on my custom stick, that or just use a digital stick or stick that lacks analog.
For fighting games I have tested it with Kinnikuman MGPMAX, KOFXI, SFZFG. If you guys want I’ll test it with 3S since that’s the game you guys are all probably interested in. hehe
I dont you understand whats goin on here. I have a cheap ass Radioshack converter that works with my PS1DS customs. While it did work with T5DR and VF5 (provided you have an analog button) it didnt work with PS1/2 games. With the new firmware, you can now use your customs/controllers on PS1/2 games.
akuma001 - You didnt specify if it was first party but the questions answered now so its all good.
Kyoji - Yeah i know. I was just hoping you didnt need an analog button with this new firmware for PS3 games. Sucks now that i gotta rewire a DS PCB for my fav custom.
So yeah, I did some testing just now with just my VSHG. Here’s some “interesting” info. It does work with BC (I tried it only with Tekken 5).
The real interesting point is that many people know that there has been some issues with the VSHG on DR. 3 button presses were inconsistent. I wanted to see if it was the stick’s problem or not so I tested with DR AND T5 (PS2) after the firmware update.
DR still had the same problems. 3 button presses like Bryan’s taunt were still very much inconsistent. When I tried it with T5 using BC, not only did the VSHG work, but it worked with no issues. I could taunt with Bryan freely. I can’t say if there is NO lag but I can say it’s at most 2 frames. I was doing taunt into f,b+2 over 50% of the time and that is pretty strict. I didn’t feel any lag either. So I think there is no lag, but at most it’s 2 frames.
So in conclusion, there is nothing wrong with the VSHG alone. It is either a problem solely with DR (probably not since HRAP3 works fine) or a weird handshaking issue between DR and VSHG.
I will do some tests with PS1 digital and analog to help reaffirm what has been said in here already.
Well I can say that T5 does NOT work with older pads using my PS to USB converter. The joystick is not recognized. It still needs an analog button to activate it.
Old custom controllers (dual shock 1) work just fine with Street fighter Anniversary collection, no analog button or anything like that. Just plug into any usb port via Radio shack adapter and it works. I think its like closest to the left is 1p, I dunno but any port will work.
For Tekken 5 DR, at least the JAP version, old controllers work, but you have an analog button stipulation. No analog button, no dice.
My Hori Fighting stick 3 does not work with BC games at all. I can navigate the menus of the ps3, but when I start the game the controller inputs do nothing.
Well I just picked up a radio shack PS2 to USB adapter and tried it with the new firmare 7.1 with my custom joystick that’s built off of a PS1 non analog board. I tried CVS2 and it works, but is almost unplayable. There is some sort of lag that makes it very difficult to pull of moves, super moves especially. I fired up my PS2 and tried it to make sure it wasn’t me, and it’s definitely not. Any input is appreciated…
hey kyoji, if you are still having problems with your stick dropping out with the elecom try disabling your internet connection in the settings of your ps3 when playing ps2 games. i’ve been playing some thirdstrike for about an hour and a half with no dropouts.
i disabled my internet connection because i kept seeing the “you are signed in” box pop in and out during games due to my weak connection to my room where the ps3 is and figured i’d give it a shot. so far so good.
That’s good to know, I’ll try it out later. Actually when I tried it, I was either connected to the internet via ethernet cable and the second time (in the living room) I wasn’t connected to anything but since I had my internet connection auto detection on, it still tried to log on. =x
Weird thing I found was that the Radio Shack and Magic Joy Box converter used with non analog sticks will work on Mortal Kombat II, but not the other PS3 games.
Yes it was built off of a non-dual shock controller. It’s really strange, I don’t know what’s wrong with it. If you can use it without any problems I don’t see why I can’t. It’s not that it doesn’t work, because it does…it just doesn’t respond as well as it does on the PS2
So my MAS refused to work with CvS2 on PS3 at all via a “3 in 1 PC Joy Box” USB converter, and only the buttons worked in T5:DR. So that was obviously sad.
Anybody gotten their MAS to work lag-free? Using what USB adapter? =D
Tried with my Super Joy Box 5 Pro - a little optimistic I know, but I had to try. No luck whatsoever, I think the only PS2<PC controller usb adapters work with those that doesn’t require any software.
