Big daddy’s lv1 is garbage, it’s only good if your opponent doesn’t know how to get out of the side circle(S3) set up, his level 2 isn’t very good either imo. It’s not horrible, but you can still easily dodge it.

Nariko desperately needs a buff. Her lvl 1 needs to work more like sly’s where whatever kai’s arrow touches gets blown up instead of them having to be on that stupid barrel. Her level 3 should also cost 650 if it’s going to be the only viable super (level 2 is unfixable). Big daddy is a novelty character and not a cool one so who really gives a f!%#. Sir daniel is being played more and more by tryhards who are trying to prove he’s the best so he won’t be seeing a buff soon. That’s my guess at least. I think the sackboy nerf is a bit harsh because they nerfed ALL of his main abilities besides shock trap.

I have seen a few tryhard Daniels recently (including myself) but no one is out to “prove he’s the best.” Everyone’s playing him trying to discover new technology to make him usable, because right now he’s in the running for worst character in the game.

I actually don’t want this at all. it’s more interesting with them balancing the characters by giving them different tools rather than

the one thing this game really has is very unique characters in their playstyles, I’d hate to see that squandered.

One thing daniel has going for him is the range on all his hits. That with the shield out he has plenty of time to open people up in a 2v2 or an FFA. Sure his lvl1 isn’t the best and his lvl2 fails on stages like LocoRoco or the Dojo stage. But I think the fact that you can at least set up his lvl1 is nice. He probably will never be (the best) but I also don’t think giving him a combo’able lvl1 is the way to go, with his reach you’d routinely see 2 and 3 person pickups if his lvl1 could be combo’d into reliably, 2 and 3 person kills, is what Drake’s lvl1 is for, lol.

So having a pretty much useless lv1 super(dan and big daddy and others), is unique?

BIg Daddy’s can be combo’d into from specific setups, when near a wall, and can be used as a tech read like most level ones. Also still decent in FFA for taking out groups.

let me ask you something:

do you think Kratos needs to be able to combo into his level 1 super?

they are limited, not useless.

and yes, a character’s limitations offset by different strengths makes characters unique and interesting. this is the fundamental part of asymmetrical competitive games. do you love Karate Champ?

Ok, what does big daddy have that makes up for his crappy level1?

His awesome short range?
His awesome slow movement speed?
How S2 can be stuffed on start up or how it can’t get through things like drake’s barrel?
All of his plasmids are alright, but they could of been better by letting you charge them for a lv2 or lv3 plasmid like in bioshock.
and his level 2 super, can be easy to dodge if the opponent know what they are doing(it’s easily his best super tho).

I think its more that he has super armor on moves and this is a difficult mechanic to balance, and so while it may have made him weaker overall they wanted the super armor mechanic, so somethings had to compensate. Also his AP gain is pretty damn good imo.

Also yes, his ap gain is pretty good. But I still wish he could get 150ap off a throw like raiden can haha.

But to be serious I think BD does indeed have some things to offset the Level 1. The Level 2 is very strong and against more mobile enemies the Level 3 is heavily underrated and you can nab those 5-6 kills very easily.

U.2 is an insanely fast 40AP you can use to interrupt someone’s combo, D.2 will secure a free super for any partner in the game in 2v2, he has a guardbreak move (one many do not know about when facing him), and an exceptionally strong Oki game that lets him keep pressure on cowards like Sackboy and Radec once he gets in there like 1950’s diving suit swimwear.

idk if I’d consider his guard break good, aside from it’s kinda sneaky. I had the computer just roll away from it on block lol.

Yeah. It is a little silly especially with the knockback of the first hit. His Oki also isn’t as amazing as I earlier thought now that I am doing it in-depth with it, though it is still interesting/solid. I can post my finds in the BD thread when I have sufficient data.

His oki is alright, as long as people are dumb and hit buttons lol.

You have D2, or any of his armored 1’s. You can also down throw, then set some ice down as well instead of comboing out of down throw.

Shoulda changed Sackboys SP3 so that you either have more mobility while in bubble mode or you respawn normally… That super is still gonna be bullshit.

Eh, I think it’s fine. Some stages you can just go straight up and Sackboy can’t reach your bubble in time, or he needs a spring per bubble and two are out of doublejump reach. Helps negate the possibility of 5-6 kills if people spawn on opposite sides, still only for some stages, but that’s good enough for me.

I think his level 2 is better anyway for its cost, especially now that level 3 is harder to reach.
