Here’s a project suggestion for anyone that has the time to do it.
Make a web page where you can step frame by frame through each normal and special move in the game, with hitboxes on. That way the community can see exactly how many frames each move takes to execute, and what the hitboxes are.
Requires video capture and a lot of patience.
It would be nice if the SF community finally had as much data about its own game as the VF community
Thank you!! I was thinking the same thing too. It would be so awesome to see each character’s frames represented in motion as well as in chart-form the way it is on the Akiba site. I didn’t know the VF community had something like that. What’s the VF site?
it’s not quite hitbox information, but it’s startup/recovery frames, which is extremely important in VF compared to 2d games, where hitbox sizes are much less important.
Even on speed 0 the characters move too fast. What he’s talking about is what Sirlin mentioned in the videogamer interview. He wanted to put in a function where you could not only see each character’s hit boxes paused and clearly visible, but a next frame function that allows you to see each frame as it advances, like a slideshow.
something like that could help out my footsie tremendously. Figuring out where you can CH someone or avoid a particular hit box would be a great tool for any player.
