"Project Phoenix": JPN Indie RPG/RTS feat. Nobuo Uematsu, Paypal Donations extended til June 2014!

I’m hype for Donna Burke vocals if she performs a song like Heaven’s Divide from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in a game like Project Phoenix. If the game gets a English voice track, I’m comfortable with her casting for the game.

Then having Eminence Symphony on board is really strong. I like their renditions of the Metal Gear Solid 2/3 theme, Thanatos from End of Evangelion, Journey to the West from Princess Mononoke, and etc.

Then having John Kurlander just adds more to the party. Then of course Uematsu. I could say at the least, at the least the music in this game should be mad dope and it’s only really with an indie project like this can people of this talent just freely cooperate to produce something like this.

Combat system sounds interesting but I’m confused on whether it’s turn based or not…really hope it isn’t because turn based combat is why I stopped playing JRPGs. That being said the ambition and talent coming together for this game sounds impressive, hope these guys reach all their stretch goals, we need more developers who are aware of the problems of the gaming industry and willing to address them

They said it’s RTS with JRPG elements. Since real time strategy systems are in real time and not turn based, it is not a turn based game. I hope you like that.

I was thinking it was going to be a Final Fantasy Tactics style game.

If its an RTS with JRPG elements…hmmm…Jagged Alliance style?

I’m just imagining it to be a non-grid, real time FFT. Then I guess free roam once it gets the overworld map stretch goal.

FFT was great I loved it as a kid, but that style of combat would be boring to me now, I want to move around and attack in real time. From the way the kickstarter described it Iimagined it would be similar to KOTOR/Dragon Age/Mass Effect pause and play style combat which is my favorite type for RPG’s mixed in with some grid based elements like FFT or Wild Arms.

I’d hate to say it, but I also imagined it playing like a “MOBA” but without the whole silly destroying turrets, minions, and getting into the enemy bases and turbo butthurt nonsense.

Judging by the top-down concept art, it could also play like a LoZ or action rpg type of game while micro-managing other units with rpg stat/resource management.

I guess we won’t really know until we start to see more footage. But certainly, it doesn’t sound like an old standard RPG or SRPG and for sure it wouldn’t be turn based.

It could really have a combat style of Starcraft, hence RTS, and have more RPG management aspects.

Update #17 · Sep 4, 2013 · 22 comments In running this Kickstarter, if there’s one thing we’ve really come to appreciate, it’s your energy, enthusiasm, and, of course, your patience! After a lot of hard work on the back end, we can finally announce that **Project Phoenix will officially be released on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita! **

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received many messages, e-mails, and queries about the possibility of the game being released on the PS4 and PS Vita and now, after long negotiations and discussions, that wish has become a reality! So although not every single detail about the release has been finalized, we’re proud and excited at the prospect of developing for the Playstation platform.

So what does this all mean for those of you who are interested in getting a PS4 or PS Vita version of Project Phoenix? Well, we’re working on getting the pledge tiers ready through our Paypal donation page and will update you all accordingly when that’s up and ready!

Those who have already backed it through Kickstarter and prefer a PS4 or PS Vita version, please stay tuned to the updates page and we’ll have more information on how to make the change once we’re up and running."

Sounds great

no xbox one… lame

Dude, it’s a JRPG. JRPG’s tank on Xbox. PS makes sense.

Its a kick starter though, its not like they need to make profit off it to re coupe. And I’m sure donations are from across the globe.

This is crazy… they only needed 100k for this game.

Annnnnnnnd backed!

Pledged. I want this.

Prime example: Lost Odyssey

Amazing game that never saw enough commercial success.

So is this like a game where you walk around like any rpg, but when you get into an encounter it changes the screen into an RTS?

Because if its like that then that is boss

Sounds like it. Especially if they can get the fully explorable overworld, I think it’ll be exactly as you say.

"A few days ago, we’d featured some of Gontaro’s artwork, specifically of Marcus. Well, if you’ve been keeping track of the Kickstarter front page, you’ll notice that two new characters have graced some of the sections: the noble veteran knight Lance Guilliman and the battlemage Zarum, both of whom will become vital to your squad’s successes!

http://i.imgur.com/5ubbTik.png

"Lance Guilliman belongs to a sacred order of knights whose oath upholds the ideals of chivalry, serving more as protectors and defenders rather than offensive might. Because of this idealism, their numbers are few, but they command a great deal of respect in the Kingdom of Stern.

Lance’s conduct is considered exemplary amongst the Order and if he has any weakness at all, it’s being unable to say “no” to anyone in need, even if it puts a great burden upon him.

Then there’s Zarum, whose temper is only rivaled by his power. When Tolkien wrote the warning that states, “Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger,” he might have been referring to the Istari, but this is advice that those who encounter Zarum ought to heed, for when Zarum gets angry, the only things left in his wake are death, destruction, and suffering.

A Final Fantasy IX Vivi he ain’t!"

Looking at the designs, I must admit I really like this style. I’m pretty much done with the chuunibyou stuff that Square Enix does and I have neutral opinion of the more moe/uguu ones since I haven’t played Neptunia, Tales of, or any recent Atelier games (last and only one I played was Atelier Iris.)

On a different note, donations have started picking up again. I just hope that they could meet that overworld stretch goal. It seems as if they already have the side-routes/stories planned but I feel sad if they can’t reach that last stretch goal to implement them.

They seriously need to free up more reward tiers. The $20 is all gone.

@Laban

Chuunibyou? Uguu? Moe?

Are those English words?

yeah i’m going to donate. wish it was turn based but either way i’m down.
they seem really passionate, i love the concept, plus the lineup is crazy.

Not really a fan of RTS, but I will keep my eye on this one.
