Problem - I want to throw a tourney in So Cal

I want to throw a SG tournament but I realized, unlike my MvC2 days, I can’t find a venue with setups already. Unless I throw it at a house, I have no clue what to do and I am not gonna rent out a hall. I do have the Salty Cupcakes place but people need to bring equipment and it could get cramped.

Whats the solution?

If you dont mind throwing it in torrance… Dons Arcade might be a good place… He has setups and an established scene already… Its where i was playing when i was still in cali.

You can find a local hobby shop that could have space.

Afaik, it’s very hard to find a decent space, with setups ready at hand. You might have to either resort to having the community bring equipment to a place or pay a higher price to find a venue that is large, with setups, but obviously costly. The only alternative that has been done is at Super Arcade. Maybe you can talk to Alex Valle/Level Up about renting his equipment and stuff on certain days of the week that is not on Wed or Thur?

Other local gaming communities (Such as IEBG) could help with setups and a space as long as you bring a scene with you and host stuff on your own. There’s James games in Upland, but i guess that depends on where most the SoCal SG scene is.

Have you ever been to Alex Arcade? http://www.yelp.com/biz/alexs-arcade-santa-ana-2

They usually have SF4 turneys n stuff.

I dont really talk to the owner but i could try and see what he says…

Whats your ideal Date to have the tournament?

There’s a Play and Trade in Mission Viejo that has a back room that they lend out (not sure if it costs anything). Last I was in there, a few people were running a Halo 4 LAN party.
