So how do private torrent trackers work? Anybody care to explain it to a fellow scrub?
In an un-educated nutshell, I’ll say this:
Private trackers are either invitation only, or you have to pass some trial to enter. You must maintain a good upload to download ratio, and uphold the rules, or you will be banned or even IP banned. Some trackers will also ban the person who invited you if you don’t meet the criteria and follow the rules.
But, these places are generally the best for torrent sharing, and it’s worth having access (depending on what you’re looking to share).
Being private, it’s easier for people running the site to be accountable for the community. Some of the trolling/virus problem is avoided, but of course, no place can fully escape the plague of assholes and infestation of stupidity.
