I heard about this yesterday right after waking up and…I can’t say I was terribly surprised by it. In fact, I wasn’t surprised at all. After Manx pointed out that Prince was unfortunately a devout Jehovah’s Witness, I think I’ve been unconsciously expecting him to die for the past week or so. So thanks for that, @Manx.
I’m not going to say that it doesn’t suck or anything for various reasons, especially since he likely died to something that was entirely avoidable if he had just stayed in the fucking hospital, but it didn’t come out of nowhere like how Bowie’s death seemed to have despite the fact that apparently Bowie knew he was fatally sick for a couple of years. Of course, that Prince’s death was likely avoidable arguably makes it even worse really, so…yeah, this must really suck for his friends and family (and, I guess, his fans).
I already figured 2016 was going to be a shitty year back in 2015; it’s just been cementing that fact since January.

In the unlikely case that it was actually true, given a15kko then said he had mixed up dates, I wouldn’t say it’s odd given the absolutely horrific amount of pain-killer abuse that goes on in this country. It would merely be that Prince would be another highly visible victim like Michael Jackson (maybe) was even though Jackson’s death obviously didn’t change shit on that front.
Honestly, to this day I still wouldn’t be surprised if Jackson’s death was more a suicide than sheer incompetence (or possible malice) by a greedy doctor given that outside of Janet and his kids and maybe their mother, no one in his family seemed to ever treat him as anything other than a meal ticket after they were done destroying his nonexistent childhood, accidentally or otherwise.
In a way it makes sense. Prince had hip problems and his “religion” made surgery impossible because JWs won’t accept blood transfusions. So he pretty much had to tough it out because he wouldn’t get the surgery. I heard he ODed the week before on percocets and had to be given an anti-overdose drug the week before. So it’s entirely possible that he took too much percocet when he got home and collapsed because of it. Sad really that in a way that if all this is true, it’s his beliefs that ultimately killed him. But it’s all hearsay as of now.
