Such great music

Yeah this is pretty sad. I remember seeing him do the Superbowl halftime show years back and admiring how he fucking shred the guitar. That takes some raw talent and balls to perform like that on the halftime show these days. There was no prerecorded track. Before that, when I thought of Prince, the first thing that came to mind wasn’t how great of a guitar player he was. But that motherfucker could play! Not to mention the legacy of music he’s leaving behind him. Sad day indeed.

This year is fucking wildin’ out. Goddamn. Prince has been there literally my entire life.

RIP.

May your hair flow as gracefully as the winds themselves in the heavens, as it did down here.

Been on youtube all evening listening to tracks. Just came across a track he did with Amy Winehouse that I never knew about, amazing!

Or Cam’ron

This one hurts. Prince was one of the biggest musical influences in my life; he was the one that made me want to play as many instruments as I do really well and be able to record myself. I can honestly say that without his influence, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing today.

He’s definitely an underrated guitarist (but those who know, know he was a motherfucker on that thing, kind of Hendrix and Miles Davis all wrapped up in one but with his own cool vibe to it.) He’s definitely one of my biggest influences as a guitarist too.

i don’t throw the term “genius” around too often, but I can honestly say that I think he was. Just to be able to put out as much music as he did, and have so much of it actually be really really fucking great is something most artists can’t touch, but he created his own universe much like the Beatles did, something that extended beyond the music. There was a certain something about him that made him not like most people. He was different, living and thinking on another plane that most people don’t reach, and hearing Kevin Smith’s speech about him just confirmed that for me. Sometimes it was bad, sometimes good I guess, but either way, the world benefit from that in the form of all the great music he created.

Anyway yeah. I don’t normally get all that down about celebrity deaths, but like I said, Prince was such a huge influence on me as a musician and songwriter and for him to go out as early as he has just hits hard I guess.

Btw, a friend just shot me a link to a boot of P’s last show in Atlanta on the 14th, if anyone is interesting PM me and I’ll link you to it.

R.I.P Prince. Thank you for blessing us with the wonderful Music you put out over the years

This. I was never a huge fan of his songs, but that moment where he was shredding the guitar cemented his skills as an amazing musician for an eternity. I was in awe at his halftime performance.

I was aware he knew how to play many instruments, but he was so good at all of them I couldn’t tell which one he was most adept at playing.

A jack of all trades and a master of all…

I also respected the fact that he could laugh at himself after the Chappelle’s skit. That made me like him even more.

**R. I. P. **

I was watching Purple Rain just last week, wtf. One of my biggest regrets is not going to his concert when he was in London.

Probably the most underrated guitarist of all time.
R.I.P.
My mom and fam on her side is all from Minny. Huge fans as expected. Sad day.

Renaming himself Penis Monster would have served the same purpose. But he chose a symbol. That’s panache.

He had a great sense of humor also

silver lining in all of this though is that we will finally get an opportunity to hear the paisley park vault recordings

They should all go purify themselves in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.

Well, this was not on my list of who I expected to pass next.

So many legends dead in the last 5 months. SO many.

These are people who shaped their music genres in so many important ways.
Merle Haggard - Country
Keith Emerson - Prog Rock
Lemmy - Heavy Metal
David Bowie - Rock (and other genres)
Prince - Rock (and funk and fucking everything)
Maurice White - Funk
Natalie Cole - Soul/R&B
Phife Dawg - Hip Hop
George Martin - Producing

That is JUST the legends of music, you still got important ones like Sinatra Jr, Glenn Frey and Otis Clay. Then all of the actors like Alan Rickman and Gerry Shandling or the two very important political figures in Nancy Reagan(granted she was 94 so it was coming) and Antonin Scalia.

Just remember, Stan Lee is 93 and Mel Brooks is 89…

Didn’t listen to much of his work, but you gotta respect someone to actively take a stand against a (greedy) record label and come out on top hardcore.

I already know one of my cousins is going to be in tears. She’s a HUGE Prince fan.

Regret that I never got to see him play live

Yeah pretty sure my dad will shed (manly) tears when Stan Lee dies. That’s gonna be a crazy day.
