Odin Sphere.
Fuck you, it’s pretty.
Odin Sphere.
Fuck you, it’s pretty.
Ok, im confused…Are these images of concepts for Akuma or ACTUAL sprites?

If SF2 is so “archaic”, then why is it still getting so much play? And why is Alpha 3 getting so little?
And ST isn’t on Live Arcade.
Anyway, as for prettiest 2D fighters… I have to admit my experience is very limited, so I don’t have a lot to choose from. But in terms of animation, SF3 wins for sheer fluidity, and Darkstalkers wins for creativity and character. In terms of presentation, ST’s simple but pleasing interface appeals a lot to me.
actual sprites.
st remix…it’s not out yet but this is mainly for hope that it looks good and plays well
2nd Impact for Bear Ryoma to render your life points directly.
Yeah, the sprites are pixellated and whatnot, but I love the overall art style and animation. Dunno, it just appeals to me more than the others for some reason.
Arcana Heart Bitches…
Hokuto No Ken AKA Fist of the North Star for me. It might not animate as well as the SF3 series but those huge character sprites are awesome plus lots of cool backgrounds and great stuff for fans of the anime. Great music too, it’s a hella great package as far as looks go.
I still like SF3 Third Strike better though as a game. It’s crazy that it can still stand up to lots of recent fighters despite it being several years old, ditto for the other 2 SF3 games. Each one lost a bit of background animation as things progressed to be fair. Seems like things had to be dropped the more characters and animation was added to the series, just a guestimate going by the technology that was available at the time.
Guilty Gear looks great so that goes without saying. Melty Blood and Arcana Heart are also nice and so is Mark of the Wolves. Shout out to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 1 & 2 and Warzard.
Arcana Heart, motherfuckers.
Runner up:
Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core
Garou
Akatsuki Blitzkampf
Battle Fantasia
All you people saying Arcana is the prettiest 2d fighter are talking about like ‘girly pretty’ ie ‘flowers and interior decoration’, right?
That’s what it sounds like.
FAGS
:looney:
Well if that’s what you mean then Melty Blood and Arcana Heart take it easy with Gal Fighters on the Neo Geo Pocket being a top contender.
Melty Blood doesn’t fall in the same category.
Gal fighters also has Iori in it .
HnK and GG look the best in screenshots. Garou to me looks excellent and animates very well despite the limitations on the hardware.
Iori in a dress for the win! And Shermie’s ending in that game is one of the best EVER! She uses the wish she won from the tourney to cure her sick hamster and Yashiro and Chris are like “What about Orochi?” And Shermie says “Ooops!”
So should we bring up that 2D Sailor Moon fighting game? I mean come on, she’s Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon… :looney:
There’s also Asuka 120%.
Eternal Fighter Zero?
MUST BE PRETTIER GAMES OUT THERE.
Guilty Gear, Hokuto No Ken, Darkstalkers.
World heroes perfect… WOW
Amen!!!
So nobody here played Martial Masters, that game rivaled 3s in smooth animations and the coloring on that game was amazing!!!
Not a 2D fighter, but Fighting Bujitsu was a pretty looking fighter!
Yeah his name escapes me right now, I’ll look it up when I get home but the main guy behind Odin Sphere who also was the main guy behing the character designs used to work for Capcom. He worked on SF2 CE and Slam Masters. So Odin Sphere can most def get a nod. Besides, it’s a new 2D game on a platform, no not a handheld - A PLATFORM! Man everybody with a PS2 or a PS3 since it’s backwards compatible go out and buy it already.
