Here is some tech that I’ve been working on for a while. Been analysing the theory behind this for a long time and whether a player could perform this consistently in matchplay without it affecting other parts of their game, in much the same way I’ve worked on POS. Came to the conclusion that it is possible but still extremely difficult.
Anyway…
The idea behind this is to be able to completely nullify any and all frame traps as well as meaty attack and throw attempts from your opponent by abusing the pre-tech frames afforded by the SF4 engine, and buffering the tech input inside of either blockstun, landing recovery or knockdown recovery.
There is an amazing guide on the SF4 engine by Illitrit, which explains how pre-tech frames work in great detail. The link is in my YT description; I recommend watching it.
On top of the pre-tech, it is also possible to build in any form of delayed tech input of your choosing. The video shows a couple of examples, including combining it with Momochi DP teching. Essentially, it’s a double tech input made to combat multiple throw and CH timings over large tech window, hence the term W-Teching. The input and timing is not easy, but if mastered it is really strong.
