PRE-COOPERATION CUP and COOPERATION CUP 2016. Tokyo, Japan. January 9-10

I want to get hyped but spoiler… Chun Li and Yun team wins :frowning:

An Elena winning would make the event hype?

How about this being the biggest and best tournament ever?

I went to mikado and watched some dudes play marvel 1, no one was there. Couple people eyed me playing 3s by my self but no one wanted to play or maybe I don’t know how it works. Anyone in the area want to play some games? I don’t have a working phone though.

even ignoring the amount of entrants and the fact that it’s co-op cup…
not excited about how many foreign dudes are going to be competing? it’s awesome how many guys are there from outside Japan to play third strike.

shows how many people around the world appreciate the game and want to get in on the action and be a part of that community.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I think the hype is real for all the foreign people going! Shows how special the game is and I will definitely be watching no matter what. At the end of the day though, Chun and or Yun is just going to win. To answer Ryan’s question, no Elena winning is not a necessity. I just want ONE team to win that doesn’t completely dominate the game with Yun or Chun or the team was solely reliant on one of those character to win (aka last coop cup).

Why do so many people pretend like Ken isn’t part of the top tier? I’ve had a lot more trouble with him than Yun.

Because you’ll never play a sick yun outside 3-4 guys in Japan.

To each his own, but I’ll never be “hype” if a random person wins.

The best player wins regardless of character. To think you’d want someone different to win to make it “hype” doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks for the info, Karapalm.

I really like France for going far into the bracket this time around. Marko, Gunfight, and Niabanh have all shown they can beat top Japanese.
Probably depends a lot on the other 2 players.

Ken dominated last years GF more than anything with Kyabetsu running through MOV’s team. Also Plenty of Yang and Dudley dominating in the last couple top 8’s as well. Plenty of Chun and Yun to be sure, but your giving a very narrow view.

Also as ryan said. “This is the biggest and best tournament ever!” that alone is more than enough

Dankah is not on my team. Teams are updated on the coop site.

Also, shin from Austin is Japanese. Albeit living in USA at the moment.

28 foreign players and 88 teams! That’s like 400+ 3s players gathering! This da best!! I was at newton ooyama after KOW and seeing yakkun kokujin tominaga sugiyama etc in one room there was insanity. But this…

Am I just missing it or is there not a firm start time/stream link yet?

EDIT: Never mind, found the google link.

There’s apparently a rotation that 3s players go to each night. If you go to the wrong place on the wrong day you’ll probably not find many people to play.

M: Newton
T: Mikado
W: Newton
Th: Versus
F: Versus
Sa: Newton
Su: Newton

I think that’s the rotation, but I may have some days wrong. Karapalm put together the list but wasn’t sure 100% sure on some days. I’ll vouch that Newton was def the place to be Sunday and Monday

Versus does freeplay noon to 5pm on Sundays though (but not on the second sunday of the month). Granted, I’ve only gone to that a couple times and I’m not “in the know” beyond that. I can’t really remember who ever showed up, aside from Dorai.

Much appreciated, I’m gonna go to mikado tonight then. It’s like a 5 min walk for me.

Follow up for those dudes still there, It was nice meeting you. Assuman!!

I’m pretty pumped I got the announcer to laugh at my new handle, still a little disappointing I didn’t get to play YSB or any of you fools.

I want to see a video of how ass I did in that tournament.

Thanks again guys you really made my night.

The team that won Coop Cup 2012 had an Elena, at least :V

In other news, I’m going to try and save up for a Japan trip by the end of this year. Out of all the places I’ve visited in Japan, I’ve never been to Tokyo so that’ll be my focus(though I also wanna visit Fukuoka again).

Depending on the circumstances, I might be able to plan it so that I can also attend Coop Cup next year.

Hey @ryan. you gonna be buying coop cup merch this year like you did last year? I missed out on it last year and would definitely like to get some this year if you’re willing to do it.

Good luck to the foreign teams, don’t get wasted the night before the tourney. Team Austin UFO (+Chokkin) going all the way :karate:

I know I’m a retard and find keeping timezones to be hard so I had to make a quick table for myself and other regions that I think people might be watching from. Google Translate says it starts at 10:00 AM Twitch so I used that as the base. Made for Pre but just add 24 hours for main event.
