Judging from his matches he prefers to spend meter to do Shou FADC combos. Nothing wrong with that.

I really wish I could consistently combo c.mk --> shouken. I use a fightpad, but for some reason I feel like that combo would be easier to do on an arcade stick.

When I started out seriously with Sakura, I realized how good c.mk x hp sho confirmed is, so I put a lot of time into getting good at confirming that.
It was even more important in vanilla since her st.hk wasn’t as good, but now she’s got two really good pokes!

Doesn’t matter if you’re using a stick or a pad, it takes a lot of time and effort (atleast for me it did) to get consistent with it.
It’s definitely worth learning though, so I say go for broke.

Question: are you pulling off c.mk > sho with the the classic 623 or do you do it 323 style?
I see you miss like 2 out of 50 hit confirms with it. It’s amazing. Your execution is really on point, considering it’s online play.

The only tiny little thing I’d change is using j.HP instead of Otoshi. Almost the same dmg/stun, and relatively decent reset potential… I rather use Otoshi to wrap up matches in situations where I don’t have ultra (pretty rare though). But that’s just me, and I suck, so… =D

I envy your execution. I guess I should bother practising in between work >_<

EDIT: Almost forgot… but why do you use c.mp? c.lp > c.hp is relatively easy (specially compared to all the other hard stuff you pull off). c.mp doesn’t do any decent damage, and it doesn’t force stand either. What’s the catch?

I like using Otoshi for knock down, you can still walk back a bit and get a cross-up though the timing isn’t perfect but it’s better now we have j.MK :slight_smile:

I use otoshi sometimes when I want the damage and the untechable knockdown, I haven’t learned how to control it well so I don’t end up in the corner myself.
But now with her j.mk getting in the corner doesn’t matter that much since you can xup, wasn’t possible with j.lk in that situation.
I try to mix her ex shunpu options up between j.hp/j.hk/j.lk/st.lp/j.hp > lk tatsu/otoshi.

During what situations are you wondering why I’m using c.mp?
If it’s for blockstrings then c.mp is better because it’s got better range, and it’s neutral on block even if it’s not canceled.
I haven’t learned confirming this way from jumpins i.e. j.mk, st.lp, c.hp, and I guess that comes mostly because I don’t trust online enough.
And with the way I jump it happens from time to time that I don’t know myself what side I’ll land on, and xup j.mk/j.hp, st.lp, c.lp, c.hp doesn’t work on every character.
If I want to go for big damage I just go for j.hp/j.mk, confirm, cl.hp

Thanks skatan for the sakura vids. You inspired me to make use of her hp shouken instead of relying too much on her ex tatsu. Hopefully I can get better cause at the moment I keep losing and am too predictable.

btw. i was doubting u2 a little but no, i won’t go back to u1, the many possiblities to combo into u2 make easily up for it.
here a vid from me playing against Guile where U2 finishes the job while with U1 i would have to go into another wakeup game.

Damn that was a rapde guile, your rushdown game is awesome ,not sure if that guile looking crappy helped but the excecution was flawless.

And i agree with you, ultra 2 is the way to go, haruranman might almost double the damage but comboing into an ultra is mostly what gave ryu , sagat, boxer and rufus their place at tourneys in vanilla sf4

well many people get raped by me in the first round :wink:
turtles give me the most problems, that match went really smooth though. i screwed my inputs in the middle of the second round but still i think that guile wasn’t used to that much pressure.
(well thats my forte, i don’t like to play slow/defensive, in every game i play, action imho always better than reaction in fighting games)

But especially against turtles U2 helps me way better. beeing able to combo easily from cr.mk xx hp shou into Ultra is a really good advantage.
Also just raw punishment with Ex Shou -> U2 ups her dmg output in tight situations.

those combos may only work in the corner, but still Sakuras Shou has pretty good Hitting Range u can combo from nearly 1/3 of the Screen into corner ultra.

I considered to second Guy earlier, but since his gameplan reallies on Mixup game, i think i am going to try to play a really offensiv Guile instead, i like his move set.

I can’t seem to even get that c.HP in. I can do j.HK, c.LP, c.HP, EX Tatsu, Otoshi or c.LK, c.LP, c.HP, EX Tatsu, Otoshi (can’t seem to start this with a jump in) but the quoted combo (or extensions of) seem beyond my reach right now.

Can anyone list what Sakura can combo into out of her various strength Tatsus? So of course we have LK Tatsu into c.HP, but what else?

It’s range and character dependent on what you can follow up the LK Shunpuu with. Mostly your only (useful) options are s.LK, c.LK and c.HP.

That guy should be called Spamka, you should have won the second round, a simple Shou at the end would have done it :frowning:

Even when you’re able to punish his crap you can’t punish him properly 'cause he only appears to be vulnerable when in the air and once he’s on the ground he’s able to block :frowning:

that cr.hp should have been an Ex Shou i don’t know why it didn’t come out there. i certainly did input it.

could also neutral jump or back jump HK or MK the balls also if you’re predicting he’ll do one, which is what I do normally to stuff them.
