im with shytzoo just do the otoshi. they cant get up quickly with the otoshi so u should know when they get up. its probably because with the otoshi u land next to the guy and it screws up their distance a little so its easier just to sweep.
You think too highly of those FADC combos Just to illustrate how much a waste of meter it is:
j.HK > c.LK > c.LP > c.HP xx Hadouken xx FADC > c.HP xx EX Shunpuu > Otoshi - 366 damage, only works in corner
j.HK > c.LK > c.LP > c.HP xx EX Shunpuu > Otoshi - 335
If you were to scratch the hit-confirm and just do a c.MK xx Hadouken (rest is same) you’d do 407 damage. Problem is you’re using 1/2 your bar when you don’t know if you’re hitting or not as the Hadouken FADC is essentially being your hit-confirm. Obviously can’t do that a lot as you don’t want to be wasting meter on wishful thinking
(Not talking about the Shou FADC combos, not sure what kind of damage/stun get from those and they’re extremely hard to do.)
Yeah Otoshi has you land right next to them, even puts you in the corner where you just have enough time to do an Air Shunpuu to get out. Next highest damage choice is HP Shou, which they can obviously do a tech recovery. I guess with the “Vortex” it allows you to control the pace a bit better.
Personally if I don’t want to try for a reset/mix-up I’ll go for the highest damage possible, probably because I need all the damage I can get
no u cant do a tech recovery after a otoshi your on the ground like a throw or sweep im pretty sure of it. ive put the computer on quick recovery and theyve always been stuck to the ground after the otoshi.
Tech recovery is from the Shou, not the Otoshi, I did say that
alright my bad
a small video i made quick…its not progaming (i just start to play her more seriously),but maybe funny with some PAs at the right time
i rly hope u enjoy

Here’s me vs. a Fei pad player in the grand finals of a small 2vs2 tourney

Doing those Chicken Wings on pad must be a bit annoying, heck I can’t do them consistantly on stick XD
I saw a Fei replay on XBL where the guy FADCs a Flame Kick into Ultra to win both rounds, totally showing off since he could have got a full Ultra off a FA crumple earlier in the round
Hey guys i’m a new Sakura player. Switched over from Ryu then Akuma haha.
Heres a video of me and a friend. After first round i’m a little rusty but wouldn’t mind some insight. I’ll have some more videos to follow if anyone is interested!

Not too bad, got some of the core stuff starting… Here’s a couple things I noticed:
-No successful mixups >>? That was paramount. You dropped 3 of them even after being successful. First one, you went for a jab jab trip, which gave him an escape. The second one was a mistimed ultra(kinda thrown away considering you had him cornered, and could have done easy damage). Third one was jab jab hp connect, but no tatsu?
-I’d dump the ultra after tatsu. Unless you wanna be fancy, sure it’ll hit, or don’t expect the mixup to go well, forget it. I’ll only throw out a juggle ultra if I’m midscreen and expect an easy victory from it (dash into it too, don’t time it midscreen). Non-dash corner time on the ultra is at head height, if you do want to use it there (ken was still at the apex).
-Random shoukens were death. A better Ken would have mangled you… could have been a ground combo->srk->fadc->ultra (a better Ken would have added even more). Forget you have a shouken too… unless you’re using it as a long range AA, combo ender, or buffered from cr.mk (I have a bitch with that myself), lose it. That goes for wakeups too. He wasn’t playing much of a wakeup game on you… I believe he attacked every single time O__O. Instead of simply blocking and punishing with an ex-tatsu, you kept burning that ex to escape.
-A little too jumpy too. He wasn’t punishing it, so I’d push the limit too, but I’d play it safe and move up on the ground against others. Your old Ryu game kept coming out when your jab blockstring came to an end. jab jab jab “k, he blocked” jump cross over “oh wait”. That’s not something good Ryus even do, why would you want to even try that with Sakura? If they’re blocking your pokes, give them a lk tatsu to add pressure (and possible link to heavy damage), or a focus dash, etc. I only saw some overhead mixup after blockstrings… which is great… still just so… Ryu though = p.
-Personal preference, I like to focus… a lot. I won’t even try to absorb stuff. I’ll just use it every time I wanna dash somewhere. Not only is this confusing for the other player, but baits them to play different. You can bait armor breaks, turtling, momentary brain farts, etc… Sakura’s is nice too, she actually has some great range. If Ken wants to play a no specials game, and likes f->mk, keep focusing around… he’ll make a mistake somewhere, and you’ll get the crumble or bait a punishable attack.
Thanks alot for the input. Sometimes i multi jab from the lag and get myself caught. He is a Ken that throws a hell of a lot so usually I get caught trying to tech that or blocking.
Whats the best way to get in for some damage on the ground. I also have a hard time setting up to ex tatsu just simply moving in. My skill is limited to a crossup.
I will practice it up and add another video. Thanks
- mixing up your blockstrings (stop early, add a lk tatsu at the end, stop then go into another blockstring) to confuse your opponent. I think all Sak players should learn how to mix up their blockstrings to allow yourself to apply pressure and control the game.
-st.hk is a great poke, stuff’s a lot of moves.
-ck.mk is a great poke that links into specials (tatsu, ex tatsu, shou, ex shou). learn how to buffer or hit-confirm c.mk xx shou as it’s one of her best ground pokes and gives you knockdown at the end.

Pretty solid  Would like to see you play against people who actually know how to play though =\
I enjoyed the vids. Keep em comin I’m trying to get to G1 but its a little laggy where i am so its a little hard to make finals.
Believe they’re not his games, he’s just finding some good ones hehe
Yeah not mine. I suck far more than these guys
Flowers getting a beating from a Guile:

Bah. He was good. I remember fighting him as he sent a message after saying Sakura is not a good match up for Guile. I told him that I beat two other Guile’s to make that finals and that he just read me better than the others (that damn c.hp/s.hp he used! Now I see how everyone else feels lol). He then told me Sakura is his secondary so he knew I could only really get in by xup/jump in/fa.
I can’t believe if I’d have won that would have been my first replay. Till now I’ve never had a replay
Great find though! Let me know if you find more of me in future pat :woot:
