Im honestly not sure about the other good sakura’s. theres not many of them out there(good or bad). I think the best one i seen is Jibbo. All my matches come from offline, i tend not to record online matches.
Im sure more matches of my sak will show up soon since I will be in MWC this weekend and then devastation the following weekend. So im sure lots of footage will pop up. I do play WC top players a lot on live(even tho it isnt as good as offline) like valle, edma, etc… maybe ill sit down and record some matches sometime.
nah, im not sabremaui. i either go by my SRK handle, sabr3, sabre_srk or sabr3_srk(my xbl tag) if you see any of my stuff.
Btw, good job on the site, it really kicks ass
sakura otoshi: you are partially right. judgement should be reserved. But if you are a veteran player, you can pick apart if a player is good or not. The guy jumps like crazy, has no footsies, misses 3957387456873658763785 damage opportunites. It’s just sloppy poking, a basic tick throw game, and random ex dp.
There are SO FEW Sakura players in general, I don’t even know what a good Sakura is supposed to play like vs a mediocre one, so the only other method is to use the Championship GPs System (its not perfect as many have already mentioned but its at least something, the guy had to beat 4 other G1 players to get into the finals).
faux: the thing is, with online, shit like that actually can work. i see vids of g1’s all the time and its more flowchart ken and other stuff =( fools just grinding points a lot. yeah he had to win a finals to make that replay, but how many tourneys did he lose before and after that? but like you said, not really much to go off of. kinda limited =/
lol, if you want to know how a good sakura plays, search this thread
zack austin is pretty good XD aong with pretty much everyone else on this thread
and yeah Sabre, yeah, i guess your right,
but i think its kind of funny that he doesn’t need any footsie games, and i think 50% of the damage he gets is off tick throws…(but maybe because he was taking advantage of lag?)
EDIT…actually, now that i’ve seen Sabre (who i’ve actually thought was sabremau) he’s probably the best out of all of us (except perhaps two others who i forgot)
I qualified for the Simply Bread 3 tournament, it’s basically a 32 double elim tournament here in Melbourne (Australia) that required you to be a famous player or to qualify at a ranbat. I qualified by using a 3s style Ryu (no FADC, basic stuff) which was really surprising since I had barely touched SF4 (maybe 2 hours of play outside of unlocking characters?). Basically I just lucked out.
So considering I’ll be playing in front of a crowd and against many players who are probably just plain better than myself I decided to ditch Ryu. My thinking was that there are lots of better Ryu’s out there than mine that everyone has had heaps of practice against him so I need something fresh. So I picked up Sakura because of her rarity.
Simply Bread 3 starts in 6 hours and I’ve been doing lots of Sakura research and watched and analysed the different styles of Sakura play. I’ve sort of melded them all together and come up with my own style then refined it against some good players. I’ve only been playing for 4 days but I believe that my prior years of 3s experience wont entirely let me down.
The vids will be up sometime next week and I hope I perform well. People in Australia play somewhat differently to the US/Japan so I hope you’ll find them interesting and that I rep Sakura well
oh lol, your that dude from ozhadou (i think)
my brother is going to that tournament…his name is “william” and he plays a 3s ryu just like you XD (except he’s pretty good at it)
looking forward to these vids!
but i don’t how you’ll do…you’ve only been playing her for 4 days!
honestly…i think it takes a couple weeks to get used to her combos n stuff…n maybe like a month or so to really develop your own style with her. a lot of us use the same combos and resets, but i think everyone has their own way of setting them up and playing with her.
I played really bad, it’s really obvious that I’ve only been playing for 4 days I seriously did not know what to do against Rufus and I was just generally bad. Not only that but I managed to screw up every combo opportunity I had. Don’t look up the vids when they come out
I’m not going to give up though, even though it was quite embarassing, I just need to gain experience in matchups (only matchup I know atm is Gouken… and it showed). Hopefully I can skillup before the next ranbat, top 8 gets recorded…
Sorry to hear that. Sakura really requires some time, don’t know whether you will continue maining her but good luck next time. (I’ll still be watching the vids, hehe)
I have a tournament tomorrow as well with around 60 people, hope it goes a bit better.
I just watched a replay uploaded by someone called Stretchuk14.
It’s always nice to see a Sakura win and get a replay.
But find it kind of disheartening how a Sakura with 2000GP who only used hp and hk apart from four occasions (three EX otoshis and one EX hadouken, seriously) can upload a replay and beat a Gen with 14000GP and I never get the chance to, I know CP totals are luck of the draw, but still…
