If the PS3 version slightly slower than the Xbox360 how is it closer to the arcade?
Is it the other way around (xbox360 more lag than PS3)?

I could tell there was something really wrong when I saw PR Balrog messing up on his opponent wakeup game. There were a few times when Kai was getting up from a sweep or throw and PR was crouching right next to him probably trying to do meaty move but Kai just got up and threw him. This is something you never see from PR.
Hey guys. Fuerte user here. Since you guys were discussing Fuerte and what not and discussing stuff for the match up please feel free to drop by the fuerte section. There’s a sticky specifically labeled “beating Fuerte”.
Hopefully the console difference is remedied in ssf4. Fuerte’s rsf is risky enough as it is.
I’m not really that sure, but I play mostly on the PS3 and I can hit my links just fine at the arcade without needing a warm-up.
But every time I try to play on the X-Box I need a few rounds to warm up first.
I’m nowhere near pro level though, so it would be best to take what I say with a grain of salt.
The PS3 version is slower then Xbox trust me…
Ignore the OP, extra sodium haterade or what?
It’s one set of matches. I doubt it’ll go the same way next time. See problem, adjust (be it lag differences or whatever). Now excuse me while I take up that offer on checking the Fuerte forum on strategy…he can be a wily bastard.
that’s kinda bullshit if you ask me. really sucks if lag is true that you had to deal with that. i wish we could have a national standard. it really sucks to have practiced on ps3 which is what evo uses, then have to use xbox? bleh… Aso you said that the ps3 is closer to arcades? I’ve read the other way… wtf … i hate this whole differences in console…
while i’m not one to argue, my question is which one is closer to the arcade version? Whichever one is should be the standard always… =/=/ to think that i play on xbox a majority of the time and then go to tournaments on ps3 i just assume it’s tournamnet jitters… maybe it’s been lag as well. =/
Hmm… might be time to switch to the PC version. It has the capability of the best graphics, processing, hardware, can adjust resolutions and other video settings, and is unviersal for everyone. I know a lot of people don’t use PC at all for games anymore but just a thought.
Plus is has sexy custom skins and costumes.
PC is only universal if you’re running the exact same hardware and software. Still susceptible to random updates and whatever other shit will start running.
I am not a Rog player. IF anything i kinda hate rog since I played Viper.
But this man speaks the truth. Gotta know your match-ups.
the video your referring to was done by sabre, and it A) was not a 100% conclusive test as it was only 1 stage and 1 character that got tested. and B) it did show that without a doubt there IS a difference in speed between the 2 consoles (i think it was something like they were 1 frame apart at around 45 seconds into the match) of at least a few ms’s. and so if your muscle memory timing is falling into that dead space the difference between the systems could fuck with you.
input latency could of been worse if xbox is different and had an off tv, not on game mode, with no proper adapter etc etc causing massive input failure
Missing 1 frame links is possible but missing DU loop is something else. I’m incline to believe there was something off because PR ROG got great execution.
PC can actually be a lot worse, even if you have great specs:
-Lots of unrelated background processing going. The average PC is probably running a lot of unessential processes that could disrupt frame rate and input response times randomly.
-Software problems can cause lag beyond the user’s control. For instance, some USB drivers just plain suck and have inherent input lag.
-Hardware and software differences between PCs can make performance a bit inconsistent.
Above is very true, though essentially that isn’t a problem with the PC Version, just general everyday PC differences - Over here in Ireland you can imagine our scene isn’t as grand as others but we do have multiple tournaments (beit casual or serious) and in the large majority of cases they stick to XBox - A lot of quibbles arise with this, including and excluding things mentioned in this thread - For example, most of the lads here do like to record the tournaments and matches, though without a top-camera (I’ve no idea of the console recording camera/hardware/software etc as I don’t own either console) it makes it difficult to cater for those looking for movies, or just record movies. One of the folks here uses a regular camera which isn’t optimal but it does the job.
Secondly there where complaints regarding controller/console swapping (Im not 100% sure but I think they also had PS3’s & XBox’s to cater for all preferences) etc
Eventually it was suggested moving to the PC version as every single controller is 100% compatible with it (As far as I know - The commonly used ones are, anyways, such as either console pads and any sticks) and recording/visual capabilities and comforts are far more accessible on a video/audio and general level making things a bit smoother - The difference between the two being that consoles are plug’n’play whereas PC machines require more setup etc
Either way none are perfect (at least not when you run comparisons - Im sure ‘we’ all have our preferred version) but I would imagine that at big tourny events and the likes, the hosts would obviously have plenty of time to gather the right machines and rig them up to keep hassle to a minimum - Assuming there’s no frame differences (I guess there must be) then it doesn’t matter what controller you play on, you just throw it in and have fun pounding eachother in while the rest can worry about footage, audio, projector/screening. I wouldn’t know the difference between XBox & PS3 nevermind Console vs PC but one would probably assume the PC Version is a solid enough middleground, no?
On a HOUSEHOLD level you’re 100% right about the above - I play SF4 on Medium settings on a 2-3 year old computer, Keyboard is my controller and the FPS is 20 while recording (When I first started I had settings higher and played for 6months on 15 FPS) and 30-35 not recording…
Assuming I got a decent PC and, considering I know most of what Im doing, there wouldn’t be any issues whatsoever, but that only applies to people with some knowledge of optimizing their machine or preventing specific issues, such as managing background applications etc I’ve all my unnessecary garbage turned off - On my PC I need all the speed and space I can get to play more uptodate games
Didnt kai challenge eduardo to that MM? Im thinkin kai was super ready for that match and it looked like it. Eduardo made a really good comeback effort especially with the link problems. Plus he double ocved winners finals in the 3v3…that makes up for any loss x1000
not true, watch this man play the match up in casuals at final round 13. PR rog said himself that he lost to kai fair and square, sure the difference in consoles did disadvantage PR rog a little bit, but even if it was on a ps3 whose to say that that would have made him won? i have nothing but respect for PR rog, hes prolly the best rog player out there right now. but even the best can lose when the competition is also good.
heres a vid from final round showing PR rog and skisonic getting some casuals and showing me how that match is played lol
ugh we still talking about pr rog vs kai? who cares. pr rog is dope and everyone loses… both guys are awesome players. kai isn’t mm pr rog unless he feels he can win…
this thread is about gay lag between ps3 and 360!!!
Its one sided cuz Kai play with Fuerte. You don’t see much Fuerte.
Why did this get dug up?
