Powersurge Casuals: Santa Monica/LAX area. April 16th!

What’s up yall! We just opened up our store at the Howard Hughes Promenade and we’re looking to startup a fighting game scene at our location. We’re a fully decked out console gaming center featuring thirty six 37-inch LCD screens, an 82-inch DLP, and a 154-inch projector. We’re stacked with Wii’s and Xbox’s which means we’re looking to have SF4, Smash Bros. Brawl, and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom competition going down (and anything else you guys might want). In the future we’re also planning to get some major tournaments going and even start a RanBat season if the demand is there. If you’re interested in coming down, let us know.

Where?

The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center (Just below the Movie Theater)
6081 Center Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90045
310-410-2120

There is a parking structure available (it’s a mall after all).

When?

Friday April 16th will be the first meetup. Sorry for the rocky start.

What?

We’ll have anywhere from 4-8 stations set up for casuals. We currently have two SF4 (Xbox only), 2 Smash Bros, 1 TvC, and 1 Tekken 6 (xbox). We need more disks and there may be a discount in it for you if you bring your copy (let me know if you do).

We have 2 TE stick but bring your own if you got one.

TvC and Tekken doesn’t have all characters unlocked =(

**How Much? **

[This is subject to change, we’re working out pricing stuff so we can stay in business but also be fair to everyone]

$7 for casuals (5-9p). Free if you buy 1 hour of playtime from the store.

Whoops, messed up the date. The correct date is Tuesday March, 2nd! No one’s interested in coming?

Sounds cool, but 7$ is alot for casuals, I mean most tournaments only run 5$. Especially since Dreamlab in Arcadia hosts casuals on Tuesdays for free, technically (but donate!)

Not that I don’t think your casuals look good, just the price is kinda steep and it’s on an unfortunate night.

We decided on Tuesday because we’re pretty far from Arcadia/Dreamlab so I didn’t think we’d be in direct competition. But if a different day is preferable let me know. Also, the price is a little steep yeah. The business just started so we’re trying to get our feet grounded. Keep in mind that unlike other places we have a ton of consoles/tvs so setup will never be a problem. That’s where your money is going.

You posted on the 24th? I missed it, I guess I’ll check you out next week or something.

Where is free parking available? Seeing as how this is at the bridge I would only assume that you have to pay for parking in the structure. Might check this place out on a random day seeing as how it is 10 min away from me. Who is the man in charge to talk to at this place?

Bummer, I just missed this if this is an every tuesday occasion I should be able to drop by

Have ya guys done lag tests on the tvs for sf4 or u guys runnin evo monitors?

Powersurge: Pick a day different than Tuesday and I might be able to help you guys out. I live in Los Angeles and a drive like that isn’t that hard.

DURALATH!!! Lets make babies and name them Yun and Yang.

there’s no free parking at the bridge

I live like 5 minutes away from here so ill definitely check this place out soon.

I sent you a PM. If you want some custom sticks designed for your location let me know. Also, a Game Center vs. Game Center competition would be fun :).

Gonna keep this thread bumped. Been looking for a good place for the Santa Monica players to hang out. Visited the place tonight and the digs look really good, with super nice staff. See if we can get something rolling, especially with Super 4 coming soon…

Hey Max, wanna get something going for next friday. I know it says, Tuesday casuals and we’ll likely move into that schedule eventually, but for right now Fridays might be better. Also, I talked to Calman (the powersurge owner) and I think we’re going to try and set up an SSFIV tourney soon after launch.

Alright, to everyone checking out this thread: I work at powersurge and I’m doing most of the tournament organizing, fyi. Some of you may have seen me around the SoCal SF4 scene. Powersurge is a good place, a little pricey, but very good and worth imo. Keep your eyes out on the the thread. We’ll have a first get together Fri. the 16th for sure.

May be attending.

i just found this thread… hughes center is pretty close to me. what will the stores working hours be: how many days a week open… like are you guys open now? at the time of this post?

I posted on this thread at the beginning but never went. Are you guys going with Tuesday or Friday? Dreamlab uses Tuesdays and Dons Arcade in Torrance on Fridays…

We’re gonna go with Tuesdays eventually but for this week at least it’s definitely happening Fri. So make it out guys! We’re thinking 6-10p or so is a good time.

Yo, so who’s coming out tomorrow?
