commentary isn’t just about educating people about the game though. don’t get me wrong I learned loads listening to the guy speak about the game itself but commentary is more than that. he was great at sharing knowledge, but just decent at commentary.
And I’m sure the guy can handle a bit of critisism, and if people got a bad first impression who cares. not everyone has to like you right. I’m sure there’s just as many or more who appreciated what he had to say.
Also, game is just out. Match play experience is really limited right now. You gotta be comfortable to execute what you know is possible (punishment and such), that comes with time. Maybe expectations of the players were a bit too high for a brand new game.

This is how I feel about his commentary. Yea he was dropping knowledge about punishment options, but he often sounded annoyed like he expected the players to know their options. The game had only been out a week. The online is shit. Practice mode is garbage. Of course people don’t know their punishment options or the best combos (or whatever). Tom would often say “Why is (insert player name) doing this!!!” And I’m thinking…dude maybe the player doesn’t know. I think his expectations are too high considering the game’s still in its infancy.
I understand what you mean but like, do you just want him to say the same thing but “sugar coat” it? I don’t think he came in trying to commentate to be like an “actual” commentator. They asked him since he has knowledge of the game. Yea, it may have came off wrong to certain people but you learn by what he’s saying. Yea, the game is in it’s infancy but if what he is saying can help you, what’s the problem?
So this was the best Altered Beast tournament ever.

Tom Brady seemed okay to me, however the only thing that really bothered me and bothered me listening to the alpharadioism podcast is that he calls Fatalities “FATALS” … for some reason that just irritates the hell out of me, I can’t explain why. it is lik ehe does it just because he wants to be different or something haha.
but his criticism i agreed with, because i was thinking the same thing a lot of the times he said stuff.

I mean with the amount of crappy/monotone/incompetent/ignorant commentators out there that comment SSF4 tourneys all over the world, you should be grateful that someone who knows his stuff like Tom Brady would actually critic what you see happening in the screen. Who gives a crap if he’s arrogant? I find what he says both funny and insightful so I can’t complain.

If there is a chance of changing what Y could be down the road, I would like to make suggestions in the next fighting game community meeting.
I haven’t seen a lot of the streaming yet, but what I do know is that Tom leveled up EVERYONE who chilled with him at PowerUp, whether it be in the hotel rooms or on the floor during casuals. Whatever he was saying, was likely because he taught us what to do in said situation.
But either way, be lucky you guys got the calm Tom. LOL!
