Power Up 2011 MK9 Stream

He also said Sub Zero does fine against anyone in the cast but the pressure to deliver was taking a big toll on his performance with his main character.

And yeah the worst part in this tournament was that people played risky and got away with it. Made the game look more stupid and random than it really is. All these elbow dashes, spins, supermans and teleport punches are the equivalent of a SF4 Ken spamming SRK.

Immensely enjoyed the stream, mostly because it was the first stream that wasn’t unwatchable with this shitty free internet service I get at school even so with the stream averaging around 7000 viewers.

The MK9 matches were dope, I can definitely see this game going in the right direction in terms of tournament-level play. My only qualms with this weekend’s gameplay was that a lot of matches made the game seem random at best but that’s of course because the game is literally only a week and a half old. Though judging from the grand finals between Tom Brady and PerfectLegend it’s very indicative of the high-level play to come and that should make a lot of people happy. Good shit MK community, well deserved.

course you can, Legend was blowing up his Sub Zero…i think he would have won if he stuck with Kung Lao, but they both just started goofing off at the end

Nope he comes off like a Elder Douchebag

Criticisms are fine, his tone and delivery was not. I am not asking for 24/7 hype. However, you can educate without the condescension, bro. It was very irritating to just listen to him despite the knowledge he holds. I understand he may want to spread that MK knowledge around, but its a video game tournament, have fun with it.

He was so uptight I actually welcomed any moment where a fatality occurred. That shit’s VERY irritating to him. Of course, I love that Tim Static was gleeful when he saw one.

Can’t really hate the guy for pointing out people arn’t hitting basic BnBs. Especially when he made free, online guides for half the characters telling people what combos to use, even.

Alot of his commentary that made him sound like a know-it-all had to do with Art asking him lots of questions, which was fine. I learned alot from it.

If you watch other commentators they make comments about how combos are dropped or things go unpunished.

I admit he does sound cocky, but not everyone is the most humble person in the world. You gotta like him, if only for giving tons of info to the community though.

There is no doubt at PowerUp he was a cut above the rest, PerfectLegend too. I think now that people know what to expect they will up their game.

Tom Brady’s commentary, as said earlier, was nearly entirely “You gotta punish this.” It was really funny too because he wasn’t punishing much of what he was yelling at other players to punish. Hypocrisy. Look at his first match vs. PerfectLegend and count how many blocked spins he punished.

Tom has had access to the game for months. Everyone else has had it for days. Soon enough people will blow passed him.

…Are you serious? A ton of his commentary was "I know a way around this trick/trap, but I’m not going to tell anyone.

Big props to Art though. By the end of the tournament he was looking really good. He’s definitely better than his commentary leads on, and I can see him easily becoming a top player if he isn’t one already.

Funny how no one mentions that NRS was watching the stream.

I did not hear him say anything like this, and he shared all his knowledge in the character guides he made.
Arturo even thanked him for teaching him how to play reptile, and helping him get so far.

I think Brady’s presence at PowerUp was very important for MK. Without him and PLegend, the level of play would’ve suffered and more people would’ve hated on the game.

With that said, I agree that Brady will very quickly drop in the ranks, and more of the top overall FG players will move to the top.

My pick for the MK Evo champion is actually Arturo. I think he is going to level up very quickly. He has the right kind of brain for a game like this: tactical, patient, tricky, etc. And since he’s been slipping a little in the SSF4 majors, along with his absence in the MVC3 scene, I think MK is the perfect opportunity for him to start showing his ability again.

It’s very well known at this point that Brady was one of the players that Netherealm called on to help balance the game. He constantly drops tidbits about earlier versions of the game that no one else has access to. He even made a joke about it during the stream.

He’s willing to share base knowledge that wouldn’t take a while to figure out, but on several occasions he’s refused to provide information for reasons such as ‘I don’t want people doing it to me.’

If you listen carefully enough, Art was really just being humble. Brady didn’t say all that much to help out Art’s game. Watch THTB’s aggressive style was the most noticeable influence - once Art learned to balance offense with defense he became a lot better.

What is there to say, tbh? I mean, it is totally cool that NRS managed to catch the stream, but until they share their thoughts, we can’t really discuss it much.

I’m definitely looking forward to Arturo leveling up his Reptile. I also appreciate that Tom Brady is helping people level up their characters. I just can’t stand the way he commentates, that’s all.

Once Art starts using a Sub Zero, mainly human Sub, he will become even greater. Reptile doesnt fit his play style.

And the Tom Brady haters can suck a dick. He knows more about this game than all of you combined. Abrasive? Yup. Thats Tom Brady. Get over it. He was putting players on blast for not playing their characters to the fullest. If you listened to the MK9 stream all day, dont even say you didnt get educated more on MK9 than with anyone else who commentated on the MK9 stream.

Your nuts. You act like Tom Brady wasnt a top level player in any other games ever before. smh…

That it just proves there sticking to there words about following the game when it come to high level play etc.

He was talking about Raiden and later told that guy in the podcast that he will answer all his questions in private.
The knowledge he drops when you contact him is not basic knowledge at all. I was able to know how he plays SZ and Cage before I ever saw him in action. He didn’t do anything that was new to me, and he won the tournament with this “base knowledge” as you may call it.
Stop the hating.

For sure. Just waiting to see what goes on from there.

To everyone who says that tom brady came off like a dick on the commentary, you don’t know what they fuck you are talking about, we were watching the stream and all we could keep saying was how boring he was, thats NOT tom brady. tom brady is a loud arrogant bastard, who is always talking shit.

the tom brady on the stream was helping people and telling them what they were doing wrong in a calm and collective way.

this is tom brady.

all aside, tom brady is a good guy, he’s great for the community. and he does know more about this game and and other games then you idiots ever will.

^I knew that was going to pop up sooner or later in this thread.

what is a better way to describe him then that?
