Power Stone thread!?!?

It was just 5$. He has been challenged me for more money in the past but I usually declined cause I wanted it recorded if I had one.

If anyone has any tips on how we can improve that would be appreciated.

^^^^^^ i got tips, but you’ll all have to wait until after the next round of matches we have.

if anyone missed it on the last page:

i will money match anyone in socal at power stone. fucking bet ittt. offer still stands.

I didn’t even realise there were PS(2) cabs. Was it normal controls? Wasn’t the DC version analogue (ie., direction, speed)?

Anyway, I too wish for a rerelease on XBLA or sequel.

Glad you guys are still having fun with this.

seriously a sequel to this would be awesome. I only got got to play ps1. my dad had the cab but eventually traded it or sold it:( never got to play 2.

pretty good

You make me feel so old.

What is? Nice username btw. I would love a XBLA compilation of all the Gals Panic games :stuck_out_tongue:

i miss power stone so much. Wish for an HD re-release, or a full-blown sequel. how well did those games sell anyways?

The Giza vids. Thanks about the name, it’s so old lol.

Bought another copy of Power Stone online. Came in the mail today. It doesn’t work  FML

The collection on PSP should be about the only one that works sadly.

dreamcast games are easily pirateable if you need to.

i dont actually know how to do it myself, but from what i gather all you need is to find the iso and have a standard cd burner.

you burn the thing and put it into the dreamcast and it’ll play.

That’s exactly right for a good number of them, but if I remember, at least some had their own encryption so you need to make it an entirely different ISO, but only the usual CD-ROM stuff.

so today i went to an all you can eat pizza and salad buffet at round table and they had dynamite cop.

if you dont know about dynamite cop: http://youtu.be/kgPeb7RJ4yM

would definitely recommend playing this game to any power stone fans. it feels a lot similar and i wish the developers of power stone took a note or two from dynamite cop. for example the character models are much bigger in dynamite cop, so the limbs are longer and its not so hard to hit people because of your midget limbs. there arent any divekicks but you have pro wrestling grab moves and some other fun stuff. there is even a vs. mode in the home version iirc.

basically imagine

final fight + power stone - dive kicks = dynamite cop

vs. mode is kinda broken though. i think infinite loops are possible with the pipe weapon.

OMG, Dynamite Cop is fun, but do you remember Die Hard Arcade?

I know how to burn dreamcast games. I just try to avoid doing it when I don’t have to. In this case though… mumbles, grumbles

Anyway, I figured out on of my 3 non-working copies of Power Stone, not the newest one, runs fine on my friends dreamcast. So I got two working copies now for whatever meet ups I have. If I had a 3rd dreamcast available I would have 3 playable.

I’ll put more stuff up later.

ggs giza. you definitely stepped things up since the first time we played

power stone tier list so far imo:

why would you use anyone else? tier:
valgas

definitely good tier:
falcon/garuda

possibly good or really good or mid tier:
gunrock

mid tier?:
jack/rouge/ayame/ryoma

low?:
wangtang

no idea:
kraken

i found a thing or two with kraken but didnt get to test it out cuz he wasnt unlocked when we played =/

Those last few matches were intense. I really thought you would win. >.< I wish more of the people who came actually played. Some of the people who came I didn’t even know were coming. It was really nice playing against someone of your caliber again.

I feel I don’t have enough information on the game to really make any kind of character ranking. The only character that I think is at a significant disadvantage is Wang Tang.

bump for no reason.

p.s. first video of no dive kick tournament on first page of this page is GARBAGE.

dive kicks can be easily countered if you know whats going on.

Damn right. I think one of the biggest issues players in the Philippines had was there character choices. They were very fond of playing as the characters who have the best dive kicks. These characters also have some of the strictest timing for pushing dive kicks, especially since I have yet to see one of their Ayame players use a reversal attack.

If you are in a community that i always playing as characters like Wang Tang and Ayame then dive kicks are probably going to seem very powerful and there might be less incentive to learn the game further. That kind of stagnation will kill a game.

I think this should be responded to more directly than it has been earlier in the thread. It really isn’t equivalent. Though there are quite a few situations were air diving is your best option, or at least a very good one, but it is far from something you can base your game around. If you use it in a predictable fashion you will be punished HARD. Dive kicks do relatively no damage, but the most common punishment for them is an air grab which does a very high amount of damage. You would need to hit with more than 7 dive kicks to make up the damage for one air grab. Both dive kicks and air grabs remove a stone too. At this point it is important to stress the fact that transforming is often not in a player’s best interest. These idea only make it so dive kicking is a bad move to be basing your game around, and there are plenty of other problems with the move that were not brought up in this post.
