Vergil has a very easy time comboing off a pure raw tag, like raw tagging in neutral to Vergil is easily converted off of with 5L or 2L. After some hitstun proration, it’s a little bit more difficult and you’ll have to get creative with the resulting combo but it can be done. Here’s a combo for Nova/Vergil/Strange:
IOH 5L(call Bolts)MH xx 236L, 214H, adjust depending on positioning, tag to Vergil, 2L5MHS j.MMH Helm, (call Cent Rush) 3H xx Trick Down, 2H6H wait xx Round Trip, tag to Strange for FOF.
In this case, the adjustment necessary for the tag is pretty inconsistent and the timing on 2L after that is weird. I imagine you’d encounter something similar with the Nova Strike L ADD H tag.
Through some experimenting, I think I’ve come to the conclusion that Grav pulse assist is the superior assist for my team. Doom and Strider’s incoming with Pulse is INSANE and I urge you all to try it. You can also use it to extend combos so the benefit of Cent Rush to me is dwindling down.
What’s everyone think the optimal Nova/Doom combo is? Have we pushed it to the limit already?
YOOOO @Marvelo I found new tech for Nova Doom! If you do a Centurian Rush with Plasma Beam buffered into the forward motion, it give you an extra pop up on the Centurian Rush.
If you end a combo with j.S and do this the Plasma Beam will pop them up during the Super Flash and they bounce on top of the beam allowing you to link a Super Nova or S if done after a short combo.
j.H s.MHS j.H fly j.H unfly j.H land S j.MMHS land forward+Plasma Beam down down forward + L xx Grav. Blaster ~ Super Nova gave me about 900k I believe. Not that damaging, but it’s an option
I think this will be more helpful in getting a little extra damage in the situations when you Vajra to hit.
Ah yes, I know. I use it mostly to snap. So if I hit a character with SpeedTackle+Vajra for example and do a regular air series after the Nova slam, in the corner I do, cent rush L + beam and I can snap.
The way I see it is I rarely used Cent Rush assist in Strider’s or Doom’s neutral anyway. This assist gives Doom and Strider an additional layer to their neutral. For Dante or Strange, I’d probably still use Cent Rush for the extensions, but Doom doesn’t give a shit.
Well, it’s not like Doom has a consistent unblockable setup with Cent Rush (unlike Dante) though I do think it’s a perfectly acceptable combo extender and tacks on a lot of damage. But having some durability to hide behind probably helps in some matchups.
Anyway, Grav Pulse assist on hard knockdown is disgusting. Broken blockstring where anyone can grab in between hitstuns. Just beware of Spencer, Iron Fist, Haggar, etc.
I think Nova/Spencer/Ironman is real underrated personally and can very be one of Nova/Spencer’s best shells. Probably the best Nova team nobody plays.

I’m curious about potentially playing Nova/Spencer/Iron Man, but I’m curious where the damage comes from? Doom and Strange work due to the hard tag combos, but does the same apply for Iron Man? Just don’t know if I see the damage output matching the Doom/Strange variants.
