WHENEVER you’re in need of a Nova combo to build 1 meter without using his ground bounce, default to 1 rep of H loops S j.H L Rocket Punch ADD j.H land S j.H xx Super Nova
So THATS how you include the rocket punch in the h loops, Id actually been trying to figure out where to add it, sigh, sadly while I have the h loops down consistently offline theres no scene around here so all my playing is done online, and I can do h loops for the life of me online. >_> I will totally start practicing that version now though, thanks man.
Wont lie, if I ever see you using my team on stream I will probably squeal like a fangirl.
Haha. Well I went into the lab today and figured out what I was thinking works. You can actually do a full combo, DHC into Round Harvest, raw tag Nova, energy javelin, raw tag Strange, IP Palm into at least 1 loop. I’m not sure if more can be done because I don’t play Strange(yet mind you!), but I think you can especially since you don’t use Strange’s assist you can actually use Nova’s assist for an extension. Lots of potential technology here.
…you just gave me an idea. LOLOL. For a Nova Trish Taskmaster combo. Well, essentially my current BnB except with Trish help me get the javelin instead of Spencer
Just got to labbing Nova/Trish into flamelewps. DHCing to Trish, Tag in Javelin and Tag out spaces strange PERFECTLY for loops, well, loop, then he can extend with Nova assist for a lot of damage, I’m not doing the full Nova assist because I’m practicing on small and floaty hitboxes, but yeah, this works in some variation on what looks to be the whole cast.
I’m ending the Nova combo with DP+L into Nova Force, for now.
Starting midscreen: cr.M st.H S, HHH, land st.S, HS, DP+L Nova Force, Trish DHC, Rawtag Nova, Javelin, Rawtag Strange, fHS, ImpFlames 3 times, land, fH+Nova, flames, fH, and either the easy extension, cancel into flight, fH S Daggers M spell of Vishanti, or the hard way, which is normally after the nova assist hits do Eye of Avocado, fH it, Teleport H, fH land, fH flames fH DP+H Reading Rainbow. I’m not doing the fullextenion right now because it doesn’t seems to work on Akuma, RR, or Arthur with this spacing, not like it normally does, but the easy version on this easy combo does 1,210,400. You don’t have to work to hard to kill.
ALSO, free bonus thing, Speed Tackle hits raw anywhere near the corner, aim down and DHC to Trish, javelin tag in Strange, you can do 1 rep in the air, then relaunch with 3 reps twice after that, and literally build back all the meter before the Nova assist extension.
That is some awesome tech, Ill definitely be labbing it up to try and get that combo down, seriously didnt think it was possible to rawtag Strange in time after rawtagging Nova for the javelin, the more you know indeed.
Kinda related and going back to the dorm discussion, what do you guys think is a better middleman for this team, Trish or Dorm? I am personally biased in favor of Trish, but Dormy sounds like he could potentially be even sicker for this team.
Nova/Dorm/Bolts is the Nova team I’ve actually played, and it’s really fun. No decent FoF setups at all, but that’s not what the team is for. Just keep abusing bolts assist, big-damage DHC to stalking flare you can do about 3 ways, the easiest is air Nova Force into stalking flare, teleport H j.S, otg and cent rush, fH twice and dark hole into super. Damage is good, helps throws to hurt more. Dorm can relaunch midscreen off j.S confirms with cent rush, but you have to space it so you fall close, and then tridash to catch up to the bouncing guy and st.S. Absurdly good extension in the corner with those two assists.
I like Trish on that team, in theory (haven’t played Trish in a while) a bit more for defense, and her assists are really cool, but Dorm, with a safe in, does stupid-good things with bolts, free meteor charges and incredible teleport derpiness. Dorm has limited defense with bolts and cent rush, but still excellent, just keep him safe. Either team, I like Strange anchor, not everyone does but he’s fun. Sometimes though, Dorm XF2 with Strange assist is amazing enough to consider making the anchor useless, though (sped up bolts assist, Kreygasm)
Trish, she’s good with horizontal assists, haven’t ever used her with bolts, but she likes other beams, and her normals form a good wall of theateningness that sounds like she could call him really safely. I don’t know Trish too well either, but I know Dorm’s good, and Trish sounds just as good, if not better, but I dunno, so yeah. Rants, play who you like.
Well Im not exactly an expert but way I see it Trish mainly needs three things, an otg assist, a beam assist and lastly missiles, it helps her zone, lockdown and combo into round harvest off a otg air high voltage, probably her best assist hands down. Alternatively a low/high hitting assist is also useful as it helps set up her unblockables, thats why Wesker is a popular assist for her as it provides both an otg and low hitting assist.
One of the reasons I actually considered switching teams is because I feel she doesnt get everything she needs on my Nova team, no missiles or otgs for her, she does get the high hitting assist and a beam but still feel like she she is getting shortchanged on that team, although bolts may be good enough to compensate for that, still need to play more with that team to really judge that.
Thank you, that was one of the major points for me in deciding what makes a better Nova/x/Strange team, I totally agree on the absurd damage you can get off super nova dhc stalking flare, but the way Im going about this team is that if Im going to have Strange in it I might as well have a way to abuse fof loops.
Plus, as you said, when it comes to playing who I like I do like Trish better, Dorm definitely felt like something to consider though.
Well if anyone knows Trish that would be Green Ace, thats for sure.
But yeah, she really does seem to need a team built around her to really get everything she needs.
I know Nova and Strider are great together, but how well does nova do with strider alone? The team I want to play has Nova second and strider on anchor.
They’re decent together, however, I feel that Nova 2nd in whatever team is only going to be subpar since he doesn’t provide a very strong neutral assist. Same with him being 2nd. He still needs a projectile to really take care of the other bad matchups. What’s the team?
So upon revisiting my Nova/Dante/Strider team, it actually has a few significant things over my Doom team.
Weasel Shot is one of those assists that are good AND bad for Nova. It’s MUCH easier to mix someone up with high/lows with Weasel Shot than with Plasma Beam. With Beam you only get once shot really to mix someone up safely, but with WS you get two mixups anytime they block it. Not to mention it sets up cross up overheads pretty perfectly since unlike most other assists it doesn’t push them away. I recommend those to try it out. It’s pretty damn great on Nova. Pair it up with another strong assist and you have an amazing neutral for Nova.
Jam Session for particular matchups is also pretty incredible. Vs Morrigan it’s especially good since you can control space with it. Not to mention it creates pretty ambiguous mixup situations.
Dante/Strider > Doom/Strider. Playing Dante/Strider got me top 8 twice. Though playing Doom/Strider got me 9th at EVO, gives me better TOD/infinites/incoming, and prevents me from getting zoned out.
Looks like the key is really playing both teams. Going to be playing Dante again for particular matchups.
Plasma Beam is crucial for getting in is the thing. That’s why I like coupling it with Cold Star; once you’re in that ass (Plasma) you can start locking down (Cold Star) and opening people up. Beam and Weasel shot would work the same way but Doom/Ammy >>>> Doom/Dante. And either way that’s no Vajra.
Counterpicking is the way to go though. It’s nice that you can change just one character and have an effective counterpick.
Though I do agree that Doom/Ammy is better than Doom/Dante, Doom/Dante does have some things over it. One being damage. Doom/Dante can kill Thor off any hit, but Doom/Ammy has a better follow my lead. Also, weasel shot is much easier to call out in neutral than cold star. But cold star is better for incoming and extending combos. Pros and cons. If only there was a way to raw tag Doom off any clean Nova hit. ;_;
