Potential Competitive Rules Changes?

I don’t see how any backgrounds would be banned in a tournament, especially the ones listed. And for the record, I’m pretty bad color-blind yet even I can make out the action with no difficulty. Why would stages be banned?

Ever play on SHIELD stage black coat wesker vs black coat dante? Have fun. Also it almost becomes impossible to watch on stream.

Softbanned as in if someone has an issue with the stage, switch it like the Volcano stage in SF4/SSF4.

Fox is in MvC3? AWESOME. What are his hy…wait…crap. Alright, his assi…damn it. Well does he have an 8 Way for Tri…damn it!

Yes, I have actually. The only problems I encountered were not blocking correctly or fast enough (given that I’m still learning), not because I couldn’t tell the difference between the two against the background. I think I can see where you’re going, I suppose.

Oh ok, got it. Thanks, that makes more sense.

i troll with black viewtifull joe on shield stage all the time. you cant even see him lol

No shield stage pls, if only for the viewers.
LOL @ smash brawl comments

A serious question:

How do I convince my retarded friends to stop playing with infinite time? It changes the gameplay wayyyy too much.

if the game needed special rules because it was unplayable at a competitive level, it would not be played at a competitive level. I don’t know why smash players do what they do. I’ve never met one and don’t really believe they exist.

sorry, but if you can’t trick a retard, you deserve to play with infinite time.

edit: post is for lulz, not an actual insult.

Pick Phoenix. You will never lose by time.

Eh, sorta. If a character previously took 2 combos to kill and takes 3 with new damage levels, they live 50% longer. If a character took 3 combos to kill and now takes 4, they live 33% longer. It depends on exactly where the new damage levels place the kill rate.

It has the most exaggerated effect on Phoenix if she now takes 2 combos to kill instead of one. It means she can make twice the amount of mistakes, and her heal super puts it even further into her favor.

The ignorance is killing me :stuck_out_tongue:

Super street fighter 2 turbo needed a ban on Akuma to be played competitively. That’s a special rule.

We have bans just like the smash community does. We have fewer options to toggle only because Capcom hasn’t given us options in the first place. Only a small subset of the community actually hacks the game to get it to play how they want; the majority of them just mess with toggles to try to make the most competitive game possible out of the list of optional rules.

Capcom gamers haven’t had to face this sort of thing because either the game doesn’t have any important options to toggle or because we have precedent set by the online match standard. We usually follow that precedent, but not because we think that there shouldn’t be choice. It just so happens that those rules usually make for the most competitive version of the game. It’s very possible that we could make a better, more competitive game by messing with some of the options this time around. The fact that smash players can understand that and you can’t just shows how much more evolved they are than you in that regard.

I’d be 'tarded if I thought that was an actual insult

oh shit. smash is the next step in human evolution. somebody call the president!

The carrier stage is fine if you don’t pick black spiderman or black Joe. If someone did that to me in a tourney I would have a problem trying not to punch them and just spitting in their face. Soft ban.

Also anything that cause the game to freeze/ no chars on the screen, zero I’m looking at you, should be banned.

Akuma ban in ST is a horrible example.

Playing a good game and talking down a party game made for kids played by a bunch of autists.

Seems fine to me.

You’re pretty determined to be ignorant apparently. Prolly shoulda known you’d be close-minded by the stance you took. Oh well.

What are you, some sort of MvC3 Hitler? Along with you barely being in the scene whatever the heck that fantasy Pokemon bull crap is. Either way there is versus mode as such it is competitive so stop sounded ignorant. As for anything else, just deal with it.

The shield aircraft carrier stage isn’t even all that bad on a HD screen. It’s SD that I’ve always seen a problem with.

Play a high ranking tournament player in brawl then, see what happens. Game has more individual character depth than this one, IMO, by a long shot, and requires at least as much skill, if not more, but both games are in two totally different areas.
For some reason, my brawl friends hate this game, and most of you seem to hate brawl.
They’re just two different games, that’s all. Different emphasis, different styles, different everything.

And I agree with the comment about how the reason is that brawl wasn’t designed to be competitive. Nintendo has openly rejected the notion that the game should be competitive numerous times, so it only makes sense that there would have to be much more adjustment on the player/tournament side of things.
