Yeah, GAIM is Pidgin now. And Pidgin is pretty good. It’s what I use.
I used Miranda years ago and didn’t like it. Of course I first used GAIM years ago and didn’t like it then either.
It’s quite matured now though. I’d certainly recommend Pidgin if you need a multi-platform client. Or even if you just want a simpler version of a single client.
ive used gAIM/pidgin quite a bit for the past few years… its very good and i recommend it as an AIM replacement or as a multi-platform client. i hardly use instant messaging anymore, but if i do i mostly just use skype / ichat nowadays…
i like IM because it’s slightly more accessible than email (most phones have mobile AIM, but not a whole lot have email)
oh yea definitely, IM is great. but more often than not, it serves as a distraction from the task at hand, whereas email tends to be more direct and task oriented. im just trying to minimize my distractions (i cant stop reading srk though :sad: )…
