nice setups keep them coming folks.
On that bar cabinet I have an unhealthy crush on? Way cooler then your current MAME one.
Probably because my bartop looks like I puked “SF” all over it :china: Honestly I was going to just leave it flat black and only built it because I had the extra ITX motherboard lying around, picked up that 17" LCD monitor for $20, had some extra buttons from my MAME project and a retired brother in-law that works for beer. Someone on another forum commented that my first marquee was a bit too cartoonish and the style doesn’t fit the existing side and control panel art so I just made this one in 5 minutes.

For those that are just see this for the first time here is the first marquee I made this morning

This is my bar top artwork from both sides and I do plan on putting a tint plexi or glass over the monitor and bezel as well as finishing off the trim where the T-molding would go.

So which marquee do you guys think I should go with for my cabinet?

ken and ryu…unless you add ryu, ken, chun li, and guile on the other side of the shadaloo one
Hrm… I don’t think I’ve posted in here for a few years now. Can’t seem to find the current setup picture, so here it is (apologies if it’s been seen before)
Next “upgrade” planned is a scratch-built VewLix replica for new stuff. Cabinets in the following photos are:
- Blue LAI “lowboy” original
- Black scratch-built cabinet
- Megalo City 29 (Chinese-made clone of the Sega Versus City)
- Scratch built Australian/Japanese style cocktail cabinet.

I hate you, I swear i hate you, I want your room.
Is that a JLW I see on your Mame cab :nono:?
What is that beaded string lighting? Where can I get it?
i think thats just these strips of lights they sell at wal-mart. i have some on my stairs just to light the way when i come home drunk lol. its like a tube of lights that plug into each other or he went all out and bought the LED strips that cost around 34 bucks for a foot i think.
Nice spot! :cybot:
Yeah, they’re JLW’s. I bought them back in 2003 when I knew nothing about sticks. They’re not bad for shmups, but suck for fighting games. Worse: they’re bottom mounted in 18mm (3/4") MDF, so they’re way too short. There’s also Happ concave buttons, which I also don’t like.
The plan is to turn the LAI cab into a MAME cab, and turn the scratch built (with SVGA monitor) into a Dreamcast cab (for CvS2, MvC2, and others). With the upgrade will come a brand new CP with 100% Sanwa stuff, and JLF sticks, and proper mounting. All planned for early this year, if work/life/kids/wife let me.
They’re a soft plastic “rope” with LED lights inside. They have screw-on mains connectors so you can connect them end-to-end, which is handy,.
No idea who makes them (I didn’t keep the packaging, which was stupid of me). I bought them locally here in Australia from “Bunnings” hardware stores. No idea who sells them anywhere else - I’d guess you’d have to look at local hardware chain type stores.
I bought blue and red (obviously). I also saw green and purple way back when (about 2006 I think I set up the room). I wish I’d grabbed another colour now, because I can’t find them any more.
a quick google of light rope (i couldent remember that there called ropes) you can buy them online or in chain stores like wal-mart (where i got them). only problem with these are if you leave the lights on for long period of time they either burn out or the color in the rope fades. also make sure you buy all that you need in one shot. sometimes the companies change the connectors on these later and the new ropes wont fit into the old ropes. it happened to me when one rope burned out.
They all look very similar to mine (mine came in 10 meter / 30 foot lengths, from memory). So far the brightness has lasted. No burn-out yet. Although I don’t spend a lot of time in the room these days (crying shame), so they certainly haven’t clocked up hundreds of hours.
They don’t get too hot either, being LED. And I’m still kicking myself for not buying more colours back then for the “changed connectors” reason you mention.
yeah i bought there cheaper ones they get hot and burn out after a year…that could be because there never on. you have given me a idea who with these i might buy some tomorrow.
sorry for the crappy picture (taken from my cell). This is my setup in the garage. Astro City Cab.

Nice setup dude. What kinda poster is that? At first glance it looked like something out of a video game.
I want your PS3.
Here is mine. I actually took this picture a few weeks back. My xbox has since died so I’m just waiting for a new one to put inside the cabinet.

I guess this will do for right now. I hope to get a vewlix (or even a clone if the LCD screen isn’t that much different) within the next year.
