Kingpin Crown Electric Screen, it’s a Swedish brand so I’m not sure it’s sold abroad.
Ii is a rather inexpensive screen, cost me about $540.

Hey guys here’s my basement that I’ve been working on recently… for those who remember a long time a ago i showed it off before, but i’ve added a lot of work to it, and carpeting for my cold basement! Sorry for the crappy pictures, my camera sucks.

This tv was in my arcade machine… fit perfectly

Don’t know what to put here… seems like a very big empty space lol, i think another tv would be too much.

Very cheap solution to fix the viewing angle on my new 24 LCD screen lol. Also need to mount it properly so people on the couch or floor can see it fine. Any ideas? And a Bezel will be installed soon enough.

Have you ever had your z5500 subs near your TV?
I read that if you put your subs anywhere near your TV or whatever, it can malfunction?
I have my sub beside my bed right now, which is annoying… but it’s at least 3 feet away from my TV… Only place I can put it at the moment.
To all those who stick LCD monitors in an arcade machine: are any of you going to clean it up and put a proper bezel on the units? They just look so unfinished.
I guess it’s a WIP.
But why put in an LCD anyway? Is it going to be dedicated to HD fighters?
Its close to being complete, defiantly a WIP. Well being a college student, and working full time when I’m not at school, I find it hard to get some time to work on these projects. I was tired of having my other non-fighter games look inferior on the crt, and every now and then I like to watch a movie or anime, it does look better on the lcd. I do play a lot of HD Remix, and currently waiting for sf4. Also i got a 5.1 surround sound system, and figured why not go with a lcd monitor too.
nooooooooooo! ;(
LCD pros:
- less power draw than a CRT
- slimmer, easier to fit in a cabinet
- not playing with 30,000 volts inside a CRT
- lighter, won’t break something if you drop it on your ties
- easier to rotate quickly (hello shmup fans!)
- sexy HD
- easy to set up with MAME
- no interlacing like a TV (interlace flicker makes my brain bleed)
LCD cons:
- looks like arse with low-res input. In MAME and other emulators it can be compensated somewhat by various filters.
I personally prefer the look of a CRT most of the time (I use real arcade monitors in all of my cabinets), but I totally get why people don’t want to use them because they can be a royal PITA.
LCD con:
Lower Response time if you have a really really cheap LCD.
Yes, that too. I was going to assume people are using high quality LCDs, but given the “I’m a poor student” comment above, perhaps that’s a bad assumption to make.
I see posters of Asian girls.
yea my dad put those up lol
Someone here has the YELLOW FEVER!
My ‘finished’ cab has no bezel around the lcd for two main reasons:
I like to play rock band drums, which requires me to sit down. In front of the cab. This means adjusting the monitor’s angle is very important - and much harder with a bezel. I could bodge something up probably, but it wouldn’t be particularly elegant.
LCD monitor is hooked up to PC and Xbox, and sometimes something else (dreamcast) on the VGA port. It’s very useful, therefore, to access the input select buttons, which would be very tricky with a bezel (although I suppose I could go to the effort of taking off the whole LCD monitor casing and soldering a button extension cable in, but that voids warranty + host of other unwanted problems).
As it is, yes, it looks a bit strange having an arcade cab with an lcd monitor sitting in it - but it doesn’t really worry me anymore. Plenty of the new arcade machines are just a hugeass lcd monitor stuck between two plastic uprights anyway, so no biggie imo.
As for the LCD vs CRT vs arcade monitor debate, let’s just say ease of use + versatility are what made LCD the choice for me. 16:9 LCD is great for STHDR and will also be great for SFIV, and I have no problems using filters with FBA and whatnot - or 1:1 pixel mapping on small scale if need be. Not perfect, obviously, but tbh none of the options are.
Whoa, not the response I expected.
Damn son, what do you do?
He sells babies on the black market at 2 for 1 on Tuesdays ! :looney::wgrin:
