Post pictures of your SF/entertainment setup!

Do not do that. You’re just wasting money on Monster HDMI cables, and you can get much better speakers/reciever for your money than Bose.

Pics of my tv. I will post pics of my collection tomorrow. Includes neo geo, radiant silvergun, turbo duo, all that good stuff. Excuse the picture quality its 4:00 am here.

Fuggin’ crisp.

damn i thought my 47inch was boss…that 120mhz?

Man, I forgot how good that game looks on a big TV. Nice!

Yea 120mhz running the premium hdmi monster cables. The premium hdmi cables output at a higher rate. I heard if you don’t use those cables with 120 mhz tvs u get lag issues. So far all my games run smooth.

Any suggestions? I don’t really have the room for a 5 or 7 speaker setup. I don’t want to spend a ton of money either. I am open to any ideas you have. Any input is greatly appreciated (I’m not too in the know about speakers and home theater)!

you actually believed that?

you dont need monster cables for that…they are the same exact ones as the 3 dollar joints on ebay. srsly. im a HDTV expert (once u buy one…u get hooked) trust me on this.

want the best settings/info for your tv? check out avsforum.com

First of all get your HDMI cables (and any other cable you might need) from here. Next, think about how much you want to spend on the audio, find a nice receiver that will at least accept 7.1 PCM (so you can get HD audio from the PS3, something no Bose set-up does, this way you can eventually upgrade to 5.1 or 7.1 if you move all this stuff to a bigger room), and a couple of nice floor standing speakers and a decent subwoofer. I would suggest checking out the reciever and speaker sections of this forum for reccomendations.

Srt4Mike - nice Samsung, man! That thing is nauss! As for a receiver, I’d highly recommend any kind of Onkyo, they are the best receivers imho - as for which one exactly, you’ll want to do some research to see which one is best for you. Speakers - Monitor Audio and Polk are very nice, for more competitive prices and still good sound I’d say MTX and DCM. I really like the DCMs for the price. Of course this is all from my perspective - do your research!

PSX - your TV is fucking awesome. Very nauss! Sony’s are best. (I wish Sony didn’t put gray parts on their TVs though, wtf? I guess you can’t notice it when watching movies or games in the dark though )

Hey Raging, I know its none of my business but if you don’t mind saying, could you tell me what the ball park figure was for all 3 of those versus cabs? Include the internals/boards/sticks/buttons if you don’t mind. I’m just very curious…

damn… suddenly have this urge to play SFHD remix. LOL

Nice screen man.

psx: like what was said above, you got robbed into thinking monster hdmi cables are a great buy. I can guarantee with 100% assurance, that my cheap($4), NON-gold plated, hdmi cable, will give you the exact same picture quality as that 70+ monster cable.

A digital signal, you either have 100% signal, or zero signal. It’s as easy as that. There’s no cable on the planet that’s only gonna give you 99% or even 101% signal quality. they are all the same. Cable quality really only applies to analog connections(composite, s-video, component, VGA, etc…) The only thing that really factors in is cable durability and shielding.

I thought the crap cables at the store transfer only between 4.95-6.68 Gbps. The Ultra cables transfer at 10.2Gbps. Don’t that make a difference? I reading on a few av forums that you want to go with the Ultra cable for the 120mhz tvs. I could be wrong though I just want to know the whole story.

You were taken my friend. HDMI is all digital, the signal’s digital, i.e. it’s 0s and 1s. There is no difference between a cheap $5 HDMI cable and an 200$ HDMI cable except for maybe the shielding. The shielding’s only important for running a long distance of cable.

^ True. And good for in-wall runs. Monoprice all day. Going through retail stores for cables is such a ripoff.

Sabre and Slaughterx speak truth.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

There is a slight difference in different versions HDMI cables (right now they go up to HDMI 1.3c), but at the end of the day there is no difference between the $5 Monoprice HDMI 1.3a cable (which also has gold plated tips) and those $100+ Monster Cables. I know this not only from various reports online, but because I decided to test it out for myself one day when I found an open box PS3 Monster Cable for $10 (marked down from $100, that should show you how much of a mark up stores do on them).

I used to work at Circuit City and I can tell you that whole cable business is a bunch of bullshit, that is where they make the majority of their money from. Not from TVs, recievers, speakers or anything like that, but from over priced cables, installations, and warranties.

My relatives have that same exact tray holding butler.

ooooh i cant wait to see your videogame collection. you’re not the only one on srk that owns radiant silvergun :)nice tv btw, i myself prefer plasma. i’ll post my set up this weekend i’m moving tons of stuff around. and trust me you guys will be surprised when i post pictures of what’s inside my closet.
