No room in my house for a real cab nor do I have the tools or work area to make it so I modified my computer desk into a hybrid cab.
2 player 7 button setup with Happ Comp stuff. It was “Ultra Modular” the CP was wired via DB25 and going to a DB25 swtich that connected to the hacked DC pads for DC games, to an I-PAC for Mame, and to 2x MC Cthulhu’s for other stuff, and the MC boards were also modular with the RJ45 plugs. So I had every console covered basically.
However when the ATI 5000 series came out the call to surround gaming grew too large for me to resist anymore and I retired the 37" single PC monitor and got 3x24" Dell U2410’s and had to destroy that desk that was the arcade cab.
So I lost that control panel and had no sticks for the last year or so but have a rockin PC setup.
I had plans to re-attach the old control panel as it was the only part of the old desk I salvaged via some metal tubing but I was never able to track anybody down that could do the simple welding I needed or the right size metal. It would look like this kinda:
Wanted 2 metal rails mounted under the desk of larger size, and 2 of the same size rails on the control panel, with a smaller “inner rail” that ft exactly inside of the larger one so that I could just slide the control panel onto the desk when I wanted to play. I was going to start with a simple straight bar so I can play when seated (good for just 1 person, would use one of the 24" monitors), but later on find somebody to fabricate a “Z” bar that came out, then up, then out again so that I could use the Z bar to raise the control panel for standing play and use the 37" mounted above (good for when 2 people are playing).
Since that did not work out though I broke down and spent the money for a TE and SE stick. I have all the parts inbound to dual mod the TE stick and convert it to seimitsu, then I will give the TE parts to the SE stick as donors and just use regular joysticks to play from here out rather than that cab like control panel.
First time using Japanese style sticks, so far the JLF is really hard or me to use compared to the Happ Comp but I will get used to it.
I don’t have any arcade sticks yet to show off, but i do have a pretty decent setup if i do say so my self
those are two speakers by the stereo sitting on top of my tv stand
three more speakers on the hutch to the left of it (still hooked in to the stereo) and ps2 sitting on top of the speaker laid sideways at the moment
even more speakers to the left on my dresser, with a subwoofer (the silver thing to the far right), the big black thing that is behind the pikachu is a speaker also (its a wonder why my room doesn’t fall through to the next level), and my beautiful original Ps3.
My dreamcast, 360, dvds, and my small ass tv which it all goes to lol, and can’t forget 2 of my electric guitars
the bottom part of my tv stand, with my genesis, vcr, n64, and gamecube (i have a wii also but thats downstairs and being sort of lazy XD)
and my computer so i can talk to all you lovely people here on SRK :D, its not much but i enjoy the screen which turns sideways (might use it for a vertical cabinet later on lol)
most were presents or hand-me downs, all the speakers were from old stereos that just busted but the speakers still worked (hence all being different speakers) the stereo is an old record player it just happened to have RGA audio inputs (i think thats what they are called), the PC monitor is off my moms old computer that just fried, the tower i have is a Win98 that i upgraded with an old XP disk, and most of the older consoles i just got from growing up and taking good care of. the 360 was given to me by a friend since he had another one already, and the ps3 is a Christmas present. A little goes a long way sometimes ;D.
I was just curious, Cause i have a better TV Setup computer etc but i still can’t afford a PS3 :P, I want one however, I do have a 360 but i don’t like trying to pay 50$ for 12 month cards
