You’d be surprised. I’ve suffered from social anxiety all my life.I’ve always been the quiet “cold-hearted” or “anti-social” guy in my family. I pretty much have to force myself into situations where I have no choice but socialize.
Like right now, I’m working in the music industry and I have to build/maintain contacts with as many people as I can to be successful. It’s weird though. Once I start talking, the anxiety kinda goes away, but I would never be caught dead in those situations if I wasn’t required to:sweat:. The only reason I’m even working in this field is because the guy I’m working with now was my wife’s former boss and she recommended me, otherwise I would never have thought of working in such a social industry.
When I’m at home, I dread the thought of having to go out or even answer my phone, but I’ve gotten a lot better about that over the past year. Just get out more. Going to tournaments also helped me a lot, which is why I’m grateful to the fg community, even though I stopped competing years ago.:tup:
