So I am attending Spring Fighter 2015 here in NYC, and the tournament tickets were sold out, but if I show up and someone drops out, then I may be able to get a spot. So in the likelihood that I do participate, what should I expect? I’ve only been playing seriously for only a month or so. I will probably get bodied. And Alex Valle and Seth Killian will be there to witness my scrubby-ness.
expect to lose. alot. ask alot of questions and listen to the answers. play as many people as you can and as much as you can dont just be a spectator. enjoy yourself, dont dwell on the losses but learn from them, and enjoy the hype.
this is true
who fuckin cares, they wont remember you
Learn as much as you can. If there are people who play the same character/team try and pick their brains, and def see the things in their styles of play that can help yours.
Spring Fighter 2015 was an amazing experience… Hundreds of players attended. I didn’t make it out of pools, but got the opportunity to play some high profile players and receive some great feedback and advice… Definitely going back next year. Despite losing many times, I still really enjoyed the thrill of playing with people and being in that atmosphere. It’s amazing. I talked to some guys there, and they gave me some suggestions on some local spots that I can come and play at, so I’m really looking forward to that.
Yeah going to locals is a very good way to grind it out and get better in a lag-free environment, make friends, etc. If you have the opportunity though, travel to other cities/tournaments as well to expose yourself to many different players and their styles as that is also vital to improving.
That usually becomes even easier to do if you go along with the people you make friends with at locals (as long as there is enough people there who are down to travel on a regular basis in the first place).
