I made this thread for two reasons to unite all of nor/cen cal and I had an awesome idea. I have been throwing the Norcal Downtown Throwdown for a good while now almost 3 years. I was watching the Canada cup and XSK Samurai was throwing down and receiving some well deserved praise and they started talking about the Cen Cal scene. Then I thought of an idea! We need a Cen Cal regional. I cant do this myself but have some amazing ideas.
If I could get sponsors and help from other Cen Cal venues. If anyone else is interested in helping let me know and just give me feedback.
These are my ideas.
-
If each venue puts aside an equal amount of cash taken from the venue fee that can be used at the end of the year to pay for the venue. This would of course be divided equally so that there is no lopsidedness in the contribution toward the purchase of the majors venue.
-
We would need live stream and a venue that could support at least 1k people. This is to provide enough room for vendors, live stream, interviews, photos, and obviously the competitors and stations.
-
We need help running the event. Volunteers would be the most reasonable choice. When we delve into paying people for helping we would then be put in a tight spot to have to pay everyone and that would be incredibly expensive.
-
We need sponsors. NOS, Hori, Razor, Local Stores, etc. This will increase pot size and bring in a bigger crowd for competition.
-
I will be contacting local venues that are throwing tournaments including my own and will try to work out a point system for seeding for the major.
-
We will need an adequate amount of setups at my venue almost everything we use comes directly out of my own pocket or my friends pockets so we would need help.
-
We need dedicated participants. The venues need to know that if they invest money into something like this that in return they are getting something in return.

Feedback is crucial so let your voices and opinions be heard. For instance I would want to run the major (Battle in the Valley, possible name?) on XB360 because thats what we more available even though most majors are ran on PS3.
I am sure there are much more things to consider but if you are interested, have questions, or want to pick my brain then please feel free to contact me at Schmidtnurface@hotmail.com or on facebook on the NDT’s page. Thanks for your time and hope to make this a reality.
