Um, dude… you are one of the last regulars in the entire arcade to be in a position to talk trash. Okay, you’re half decent at CvS2 or SvC, but then, that’s because the vast majority of the people in Portland have no clue at all how to play those games on any competitive level and you’ve never played outside of Portland so you don’t realize that… as opposed to MvC2, where there are numerous players in Portland who can hang with the vast majority of the country. Yet whenever someone like me comes along who can own you for giggles with practically any team I feel like playing, what do you do? Maybe you’ll play two or three whole games, but even if you do, then you’ll flee to the other games where you can go pound on the bottom-feeding group of mall scrubs. At least, as long as Brian J isn’t around to pound you silly on those games, too.
Yes, you’re a better player than, say, Shin Contra or bakemono at MvC2. To someone like me, your rather scrubbish attitude towards the game is intensely frustrating, because you could actually be good at the game if you would get the words “cheap” and “bullshit” out of your lexicon and just settle in to figure out what you’re doing wrong and do it better. Yeah, that means you’re going to lose a lot of games to guys like me while you’re figuring it out. So what? If you approach the game with a good attitude (i.e. if you do something wrong, at least try to figure out what and do it better the next time and approach it as a learning experience) it’ll do you some good. If you approach it with a bad attitude (e.g. thinking things are “cheap”, figuring you’re going to lose for free and you can’t do anything about it, etc) then yeah, it really won’t do you much good.
You’re in the middle of one of the best ten or so MvC2 arcades on the planet. Cherish that. Yeah, you’re better at the game than a few of the others you’re barking at here, but they’ve got something I can respect that you don’t: they’re at least trying. They’ll actually enter MvC2 tournaments even though they know they’ll get pounded, because it’s their real shot at playing the best players in the state when they’re taking off the kid gloves. Even though you’re not just hopelessly awful at the game, you won’t do that. And that’s something I just can’t respect no matter how much you try to excuse it.
Now, if you want to pick my brains on how to play the game better, ask questions. I’m always happy to answer. But you’d have to come at me with an open mind first. After all, Justin Wong dominates everyone primarily because he’s the best on the planet at just figuring out the game without weighing himself down with preconceptions as to what he wants to do or why or what’s supposed to work… he goes out and figures things out for himself; if it works, he’ll use it, if it doesn’t, then he’s going to know why and he’ll know what he wants to do when he sees it from someone else. That’s why Justin can play just about any team he wants better than anyone else… because he doesn’t try to be like anyone else, he just goes out to find what works.
But please don’t talk trash until you start showing a little more spine. Right now you’re just coming off like a bitch carefully picking on the few who are smaller than you.
