Pikachu! When I played, I mained Pika and subbed Blaze.
So while I didn’t get super hype about Pokken at EVO, I also didn’t see it live. I’m very glad to see Mewtwo not winning everything in one form or another.
Anyone know when the next tournament is for Pokken?

Riiiiight… there hasn’t been a single tournament won by a Mewtwo in the history of the game. He just doesn’t have the tools to do it. Doesn’t matter if you hit like a truck if you can’t actually land attacks and get punished for free for trying.
As I did some more thinking, I realized another flaw in the game’s system that could be tweaked in a v1.4 patch.
At present, moves that cost HP only deal recoverable damage. Popping a Cresselia or Espeon can essentially make those moves free. Moves only start taking potential health at 1 real HP.
Instead, I would have moves cost real HP, and half the real HP in recoverable health as well. The idea behind this is that if you’re going to spend the resource, there shouldn’t be a one-button command to erase all of the self-damage.

Hey it only took 5 days. But he’s so majestic I suppose we can let it slide.
You know, it would be cool to have an actual Pokémon fighting game there.
And I mean some of the gym leaders have good designs, imagine taking some of them and making them full-fledged fighters, probably with a couple summons but most likely taking their own moves from the Pokémon.
I could see something like this being made by Arc System Works, similar to Persona 4 Arena.
Eh, even with the new playable characters, I think this game is dead in the water if it doesn’t address some of the glaring balance issues that plague it.
There’s just way, way too much that’s safe on block in this game, and some characters can just dominate space with projectiles that are too resilient to effectively nullify and overpower.
