I’m guessing Clawitzer is the Champion’s Pokemon, judging by its level. It’s fucking badass. Wonder what Skrelp’s evo looks like…[/details]
I thought Red was suppposed to have a Pikachu, Lapras, Snorlax, Charizard, Blastoise, and Venasaur? I recall fighting him with that set in all of the games.
Yeah, and after Brock taught him about typing, he starting fighting smarter. Remember he actually tried to type match Giovanni. Not his fault Gio spams OHKOs lol.
Ash would have kept commanding Thunderbolts until something broke*(either his voice or Pikachu, whichever gave out first)*
Another problem with the anime is that it made the legendaries too godlike. Being all supreme being-ish that can actually speak human… it gave the audience the thought that in real pokemon storyline, those are untrainable… in short in the anime, pokemon are the superior species.
I wouldn’t call that 100% true. Ash has beaten Legendaries outside of movies. He beat Articuno and Regice in Battle Frontier alone. And Legendaries SHOULD have that aura of nigh invincibility around them. Otherwise there’s no reasons for their Legends.
No, the problem with the anime lies with these…
Ash resets his intelligence after every region. This makes no sense. I can understand resetting his party and people underestimating him due to that, but he shouldn’t be going back to basics on crap. Let him keep his damn smarts.
Ash never accomplishes anything outside of filler. At the top of his powers he got punked by FUCKING TOBIAS who ran in with, wouldn’t you know it? LEGENDARIES (which also proves they’re not too godlike). And then he went in complete reverse in B/W. Let the damn kid accomplish something. It makes the entire season null since we watch him work his way up just to get smacked back down to nothing.
He never ages. Now I can understand this one somewhat all considering. Some anime can’t afford the aging (Detective Conan being a prime example). But if say they let him just age up one year for every region, he’d only be 15-16 now which is perfectly fine. It’d also let him keep his experience and character development.
The party of people he picks up get more and more annoying. I mean, obviously he had to switch out people eventually. But damn, they really could make better characters for it.
To summarize, the biggest issue is that all the developments that happen in each season eventually get reset like they never happened other than the Pokemon he caught (which you’ll only ever see at the League Tourney). Nothing changes in the end, and that’s the biggest issue. Why is Red so beloved? Not for not being an idiot, the Origins proved he’s possibly more stupid than Ash. It’s the fact that he gets shit done, and the writers ALLOW him to get shit done. With Ash’s squad and his experience he should’ve been running train through Leagues by now. The writers just won’t allow him to do so.
Most of the victories were more of the legend realizing they were wrong and taking off. The legendaries i’m talking about are Mewtwo, Arceus, Lugia, Giritina and the other dragons… the movies made them look to God like that gave the image of them being untrainable. In this OVA, while Mewtwo was a powerful pokemon, he wasn’t a god that couldn’t be catched… he was just a strong ass pokemon. In short, the anime did make Mewtwo just a pokemon that didn’t speak human and wasn’t on a status enough to be uncatchable. Humans were still the higher species, unlike in the anime where worlds and time where even controlled by pokemon.
