Pokemon Go thread: If i miss that zubat one more time

All the good ones are too much of a grind, especially water Pokemon. I’m not walking down the river after work every day…

My top 6 strongest aren’t even Pokemon I like lol… but Drowzee is common as hell, so it’s easy to power up my Hypno.

The thing is, the pokemon that are common really depends on where you live. I’ve seen 1 drowzee where I live. But like 20 geodudes/rhynhorns just from a couple of park trips. I was watching some streamer who had caught a shit ton of pokemon, playing for like 8+ hours a day for a week, and then he had gotten a badge for “10 ground type pokemon.” I was like, wtf, checked mine, and I was at over 40.

So the notion of which pokemon are common is different depending on where you are, which is pretty cool

my area has like dick-all for rock and fire types, frustrating but kinda fun that i’ll need to explore to another town to find a good supply of them.

Anybody know if Central Park in NYC has good Pokemon? I might go there Saturday only if there are good Pokemon.
I’m gonna check out DC in a few weeks and see if the Smithsonian or the Holocaust Museums have any good ones.

Just walk around, catch shit and raise it, no need to go that deep. You get access to higher CP mons as your trainer level increases, so I wouldn’t worry about that shit until you’re at higher levels.

It is a neat idea, though I think the raising aspect of the game was implemented poorly because of it. It makes pokemon in your area that are rare not worth raising due to how rare it is to catch more to mulch. You could be workin’ on that one pokemon for months, in that time you could have been raising several even slightly more common, and still feel like you haven’t accomplished much. I’m morbidly curious how legendaries will be handled in that regard as well, considering I doubt you’re gonna be able to go farming for Mewtwos, ever.

I can only guess that down the road, there’s either going to be some “generic candy” that you can get from pokestops/store that isn’t pokemon exclusive, and/or they sack the current candy concept and make it something like type-based candies or some sort of similar grouping.

Dont expect legendaries outside of special events hosted by Niantic. Heres an example of an Ingress event:

Theres different ways they could do it, they could basically pick an area, and say whichever team owns the most gyms in that area wins. They could put up new gyms where the legendary pokemon are, and everyone has to fight it (in fact, this is much like they teased MewTwo in times square in the announcement video). Maybe if its defeated, everyone who participated gets it?

I have a feeling they will do something with special events, and have Master Balls earned, and then they spawn the legendary pokemon and people with master balls catch it. Im excited to see what comes, but I know it will be something cool and organized, thats the only thing that makes sense

Not talkin’ about catching, so much as raising once caught. Only way to give a poke CP is to use stardust AND a breed-specific candy.

Unless you mean that these events are going to be largely about mulching whatever’s obtained just so you can raise your original a little more.

So what po’s sayin’ is in about 2 months, he’s never gonna be able to take a gym on and won’t be able to hold onto one either.

That’s ultimately what I’m on about is looking at this more long term than the next couple weeks, ya know? Rare pokemon are already showing to be a pain in the ass to raise due to the genocide prerequisites. If they write in exceptions for legendaries, that all but squashes all hopes I have of them tweaking the system so rare pokes aren’t so difficult to raise.

Each type of Pokemon has a base set of attributes for Stamina, Attack and Defence. Each specific Pokemon is “born” with it’s own IV (individual values), that further increase these stats by 0-15 extra points. You can not change the IV’s, not all Pokemon are born equal.

These IV’s make small differences in the final power of a Pokemon. For example, the base attributes of a Charizard are 212, 182, 156. This would be the “worst” charizard available where all IV’s are zero. With max IV’s, a Charizard would have 227, 197, 171. Each of these Atk, Def and Stam values for Charizard are only 7-10% better.

Nonetheless, if having the absolute best Pokemon is critical to you, this tool wll help you find the hidden IV values that your Pokemon has so you can decide to keep it or try for something better.

This tool uses the two following formulas and the inputs you provide about your Pokemon to attempt to identify its IVs:

HP = (Base Stam + Stam IV) * Lvl(CPScalar)

CP = (Base Atk + Atk IV) * (Base Def + Def IV)^0.5 * (Base Stam + Stam IV)^0.5 * Lvl(CPScalar)^2 / 10

Note that Pokemon have hidden levels and each level requires two “Power-Ups”, this tool will display Level 4.5 if your Pokemon has had one Power-Up after level 4.

Whenever I’m actually taking a walk, I can’t get into the damn server. These 10km eggs aren’t gonna hatch themselves. I have yet to do a gym battle either, where I am, people do nothing but play this it seems.

Went to the lighthouse in long beach last night, it was the most people I’d ever seen playing. Easily over 200. there was a concert that had rented out part of lighthouse, so nobody was allowed on the end.

And then, chaos. A gyarados spawned on the end of the lighthouse. 200 people fucking starting running for it. And as we all got closer… we found out it was spawned in this blocked off area, where nobody could reach it. At this point the concert was over, but nobody would let us through. Some people tried jumping the fence, but security knocked them down.

In the end, over 200 people were standing mere feet from a gyarados, and denied from catching it, lol.

I wasn’t as salty as I could have been, my phone decided to crash (because of the app being super overloaded + getting an MMS text message at the same time = phone crash). When I rebooted, it said “Nows the perfect time to install that Android update.” It took 30 minutes to come back up : ( That was during the time the Gyarados spawned, so even if it HAD been obtainable, I would have been fucked. I guess I could have used my wifes phone and logged into my account : P
