Good Job!
Do you plan on supporting other HRAP models or the Madcatz TE in the future?

nice
so you just drop this on top of your existing panel without removing the default fake carbon fiber sticker?
Man arthong.
Those covers you made look so clean.
Very nice edges and curves.
Good stuff.
Damn, I’m tempted. I’m worried about getting the 1/16" thickness though. I’m fairly certain I’m gonna snap the panel in half when I swap buttons.
estimate request sent. I think I may take the plunge.
Any chance in hell you make these for SE Sticks?
That’d be tough right? The SE panel bent toward the front.
OP: Awesome idea, looks like a great product you are offering.
A++
Wow, I will totally buy one of these if you start doing them for the TE stick. This would be just what I need and I can’t afford what I would need to do one on my own.
Yeah, there is a small degree difference in the mid section.
I would definitely get one of these…
Can you make one for the T5 hori stick?
Art… I just had an idea… Would it be possible for you to make me one of those clear top panels thick like the one shown here:
But with the TE button layout? That would be sweet. I could swap the front plate whenever I wanted a new layout.
Those guys wanted 70 bucks US for that??? HAHA
i would have laser cut those in 1/16 or 1/8 for about 30-50 (depends on thickness)
PM for details…
Just sent you an e-mail. I was looking for someone who could do this for my HRAP EX, hopefully you start doing the MC TE as well.
Emailed about 1/16, would love to see a 1/8th or maybe beveled edges though.
Thanks again everyone for the kind words, orders and support! I finally have a chance to respond and will be getting to your guys’ emails soon. First, let me go through some quick questions
Yes, next product batch will begin 3/28. I will be responding to emails shortly and probably send out money requests on 3/26 and 3/27. However, if you were one of the first two to email me, I have two on hand that will be mailed to you after payment. Thanks!
I hear ya dude. Sorry I couldn’t make these things sooner :crybaby:
Hmmm, international rates and handling are a bit more complex. But I’m here to help. Email or PM me your address so I can plug it into the postage calc and give you some options :chat:
That would be a negative. The shaft doesn’t make contact with the original panel, and that little bit of protrusion still won’t touch it. I’ll be happy to take some pics on that tonight to demonstrate =)
It might. I don’t have a HRAP2 to give you 100% confirmation, but if the turbo button box placement is the same then Yes. I’ll have to lurk through a few of the threads on that to confirm, or maybe someone can chime in with more details.
They should. My screw-ins haven’t arrived yet for me to demonstrate, but that extra 1/16" should fit. I will probably have to confirm on the thicker ones, just to make sure.
If it looks like the demand is high, I will definitely took into doing the TE. I will need to get my hand on one first, because I don’t want to do any guess work. I’m going to make sure it fits perfectly before offering it. So I’ll update you guys on that when the TE’s come out again :china:. I’m not sure about the other HRAP models. The biggest issue is the guide/turbo box button placement. I’m not sure if that is the same. Otherwise, the button and screw placement should. If I happen to get my hands on any other HRAP models, then I’ll look into it.
That is correct. The whole intention here is there’s no need to modify anything from your original HRAP. Just put your art cutout on top, place the plexi on top, and screw and buttonize. I will add some images of the process later tonight on my site.
You’ll be surprised how durable these things are. You can bend it quite a ways before it will snap. If you like to wait, maybe sometime next week or so I can do a video segment to demonstrate. You might have to remind me in case I get swamped =P.
Technically I have the ability to do this… however I’m not sure if the cost will be worthwhile. Basically I need to heat the plexi where it needs to bend just enough so it will be flexable to apply the pattern. A lot of trial and error will need to be made, as well as a seperate template since it would be inaccurate to use the SE panel as a pattern with that bend. Overall, it will take a lot more time and I’ll need to get my hands on an SE stick. At this time I’d have to say it’s probably a no unless there’s a big enough demand and I get some extra help.
I’d have to get my hands on one first to create a template. Sooo, unless there’s one I can borrow and mess around with, I’m afraid it’s not likely =(
I can, but I wouldn’t suggest it at this point. Mainly because I’m still testing to see how well this plexi panel setup will hold. The bonding of the joystick mount to the thick plexi panel will hold, but my main concern are the joystick screws inside the acrylic mount. In a couple weeks I’m going to bang on that thing and play like a 3rd grader to see what could potentially break first =)
Alrighty, on to the emails. Thanks again!!
Seimitsu screwins have TONS of extra clearance…the extra thickness of the plexiglass will NOT be a problem.
They have about 1/2" of extra threading that isn’t used when you install them on an HRAP.
Router, Router table, bottom bearing flush trim bit, step drill bit for pilot holes, propane for flame polish, lots of compressed air to clear away the shavings, patience and a good back.
Precautions would be to wear long sleve shirt, gloves and goggles as hot shavings will fly around. You will feel it if it gets on your hands. A bit of trial and error is involved to mount your panel on the plexi to use as your template. If bearing is too close to the plexi, the bearing’s washer can tag the tip of the plexi and end up burning it rather than cutting. If the bearing is too high, you’ll start shaving your HRAP panel. Happened in my initial trials so my Hrap panel has a few scrapes. But it was worth it.
You can cut out a seperate template with MDF material also. Basically if you have the tools to do it, go for it! Otherwise, you may be spending an extra $150+
As for the artwork, once you place the plex over it, screw it in and snap your buttons in, your art isn’t going anywhere.
AND A MASK!!!
Always wear a mask/respirator when you are drilling, sanding, or grinding any kind of plastic or wood.
That stuff and the chemicals in it can RAPE your lungs if you breath it in.
