bitch beat my ass and feel good about yourself i’ll fucking stomp you! And i blame you for getting more ppl to play wow…the seed of corruption has been exposed.
and now I quit and people follow.
I’m a fucking trend setter. CVS2.
you talkin about trends, no one was followin you when you had that crooked ass air strip on your face- oh wait, that was super joe my bad. CvS2? i’ll pass, what’s up with VF5?
on a side note, i feel like my time in Marvel has come and gone, and i wish that i had moved up here sooner than when i did, cause 2k2 Frankdadank was the best any of us had seen…if you missed it, well yeah you missed some epic ass shit.
I’m just kidding. CVS2 sucks.
I agree
cosign
portland has been playing cvs2 too much… lately
w/e. I have a hellua lot of fun with CVS2. Nothing beats Mugen, though. I’m having WAAAAAYYYYY too much fun playing Popeye/Underdog/Peter Griffin :lovin:
Some have said that Marvel is random, and I would have to disagree. Marvel is chess where you don’t get to take your time. It’s combos are not as fast as GG, but require more specific timing. It’s got more spacing/zoning/projectiles than any other game. You’re also given far more freedom to play your own style. In the end, Marvel has more variables than any other fighting game out there that I’ve seen. The player that can control all of the variables will win.
I would venture that the superior player wins a greater percentage at Marvel than any other game. I can mash or poke and pull wins out of my ass in Tekken, DOA, 3s, and most other fighting games. When it comes to Marvel, I’ve never beaten Row or Jmar. The gameplay is far deeper, and the learning curve far steeper.
It can be depressing when you work at a game for a long period and still get whoop’ed consistently. My ego sometimes prefer that I just pickup a lesser game where I can just read an FAQ and be able to compete at a moderate level. It’s times like that when I can truly appreciate the skill and patience it takes to play Marvel. It is also in times like that when I can forgive less driven or more emotionally sensitive players for not wanting to commit the time to cultivate their game.
As I type this, I realize that this was both honest and condescending at the same time. Sorry if I offended anyone.
Low blow. I wish I got to play Frank more. I think I’ve only played 4 games against him. I really don’t know whether he’s a bad player [as he believes himself to be], or simply not a great player [when contrasted against a great scene]. But by his latest post, I guess I won’t have the chance to find out.
If I could revoke your posting privileges, I would.
Are you serious? lol.
Of course! The best with Peter = 7 hit combo> Steroid Man xx Flaming Fart
:wtf: Why? It’s not a better game. It’s broken as all hell. It’s just the most fun game I’ve played. F-U-N. Like playing Juggernaut’s ghetto edit. Anyone seen the ghetto X-Men cartoon on youtube? That’s where “I’m the Juggernaut, bitch!” came from.
you may be the greatest mugen player in all of burlington.
Yknow what? This thread is starting to take a turn for the worse. Mugen? Let’s be serious. You know what I do with Mugen? Me and Sean used to dl characters and have them fight each other just to see epic ass fights. You don’t PLAY Mugen. WTF? Let’s not derail this thread, I’m on a holy mission here, don’t get it twisted.
Outside of the craziness I’ve seen, this thread has had some very good replies! I’m liking this people, let’s keep it up!
I know, that’s why I’m complaining about it.
Not as fast as GG but require more specific timing? Really? I’d consider it vice versa, I think Marvel has faster combos and GG’s combos require more specific timing. FRCs and shit as in the timing, and chain combos (you know like magic series and everything) all come out faster in Marvel… Except maybe for like Jam.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I hate Sent more than Cable… Cable is cheap and boring but at least he’s so bread and butter that there’s no way he can surprise you… Fly/unfly/fastfly and shit is just off the hook though. I mostly hate it because of his defense and the fact that he’s in almost every team.
Some of the combos in GG are hella fast. Must faster than any Marvel combos that I’ve seen. Johnny comes to mind. But the combos that GG players considered the most difficult seemed to be deemed so due to their speed and little else. When GG players I knew in Texas (not the best scene, I know) sat me down and taught me the combos, they were not all that complex. You merely had to input them really fast and they would work just fine.
But the combos featuring the big 3 in Marvel (Sentinel, Storm, Mag) are tricky as hell. There’s a reason why I play Cable, and that’s because I can’t execute worth a damn. I could input the biggest Johnny combos in GG without an issue when someone told me what to do. But Marvel combos, esch! The big combos are always a mixture of chain AND link hits, and many require repositioning mid-combo. You can’t just input it REALLY fast and make them all link. I can’t even do the most basic fast fly combos because you have to go really fast, then wait briefly in neutral before finishing the combo. It’s the change in tempo that always fucks me up.
If all I had to worry about were magic series combos, I’d probably win every Marvel match I play now. The Marvel players here whoop me because they relegate me to wherever they desire on the screen, they use a myriad of methods to make me miss a block, and they bust the most ridiculous combos when I give them the opportunity.
*For those who might not be familiar with the lexicon: Chain hits are where the recovery animation of a move is canceled out with the starting animation of the next move (e.g. low forward kick into hadoken or a magic series combo). Link hits are where a move completes the recovery animation, and the following move (counting start-up animation) connects before your opponent recovers from hit stun (e.g. 4 consecutive low short kicks by SF2 Ryu or the crazy Sentinel shit seen in the Team Scodolfy videos).
Also, Cable rapes me. But Sentinel, Storm, and Mag rape me harder. Without lube, while wearing a sandpaper condom. And there might be the application of Tabasco afterwards.
Thing is though, in marvel combos arent really that important beyond like your few basic combos, things like blocking, spacing, assist usage, and knowing how to handle certain tactics are far more important than flashy combos. Important combos are really like know your storm/sent dhc, if you play cable know all the ways to combo into ahvb, couple of Sent B&Bs, and if you play Mag know his basic setups and really that covers all the shit you HAVE to know. Sent unfly combos are NOT necessary to play a good Sent, Storm resets are NOT necessary to play a good Storm, you’re mixups dont HAVE to be godlike to play mag. I’ve seen certain players who don’t really do any of those advanced combos ever and who’s characters arent that great destroy people they play because they have solid fundamentals.
I don’t know, I think basic ROM setups are faster than anything Johnny does. His combos are like 6hs, 236hs, 236k, dash, 5k, 5hs, 623s, s~(three buttons to FRC), jHS, jD, j236hs. Or they were, I don’t know about the newest installments… Anyway, the rhythym/speed to that combo is just like hit, hit, hit . . . hit hit, hit hit, hit hit. But let’s say Mags’ is doing c.lk, c.hp, sj.hk, ad/df, sj.lk, sj.lk, ROM… it’s like tap tap, jump, tapTAPtaptap, jump, tap-tapTAPtap-tap, etc…
Not that it really matters, I just see it as faster.
Except for fast fly, I totally disagree. Are links even used in Marvel? I wouldn’t really consider it linking when an assist is used to keep it comboing, and I honestly can’t think of any real links used in the game. Everything is pretty much chain combos or hp/hk attacks cancelled into airdashes and superjumps. Fastfly stuff is weird yeah, with the neutral state, but the other god tiers… I don’t know. Their best damage-wise combos are just like 5 fierce, or trijump hk, s.hk, sj.hk, ad/f sj.lk, sj.lk, special xx super. :wonder:
yeah most of the combos in marvel are chains, but there are some with links. good example is the cyclops infinite.
that’s true. even a fool like me can learn to magneto inf and fast fly. it takes experience to know how to play…
