So what do thet look like? I know they run fine if your pc’s fast enough, but whats the over all effect? My pc’s getting upgraded shortly and will be emulating the fighters if they actualy look like the arcade versions. Otherwise I might just stick to consoles. Opinions?
It runs fine, some games have few problems, but hardly anything serious.
Emulation is more if you want to practice or some online matches.
arcade perfect + better if you turn on the graphical enhancements
You making it sound like emulating the games is a huge investment. Why not just try it out for yourself once your computer arrives, and judge for yourself? It’s not like it’s a major effort or anything. I honestly don’t mean to flame or anything, but the whole idea of this thread seems to be a little weird.
not at al jeebus, i have no experience of mame or anything, the only emulator i’ve uses is zsnes and the graphics look worse than on the snes, so i often wonder how good mame etc looks
Yeah, so what I mean is, why not just use MAME? I would say further, but I don’t feel like getting banned today :pleased:
Arcade perfect for sure… ^^
The reasion I will be upgrading my computer is for these. But I don’t want to do it if it’s not going to be worth it. Thanks for you help anyway.
Exactly the same with me. I’ve tried mame and super puzzle fighter II turbo, you can tell it’s being emulated. I was wondering if a better graphics card would improve the graphics or not. So do they look like this or better or worse or…?

They look like that, and that approximate size (depends on your resoultion) if the emulator default is windowed display with no effects.
Depending on the emulator, it uses your video card to stretch and blur it. How it blurs it depends on the “engine” built in (2XSai, SuperEagle, Mame has a ton more now I think). It also does it with or without scanlines to try and make it look more like a TV. Here are 2 examples in Kawaks, you can find more examples of the stretching engines around the net I’m sure (try mameworld.net, they probably have a link to this info. And be warned, these are large files (800K)):
Kawaks windowed, stretched to full screen (resolution 1280x1024) using Video Memory and default blitter

Any video card made within the past few years should be able to do bilinear interpolation filtering and look like the first one. My video card is actually very weak (GeForce FX 5200 dualhead…PCI!) and can run the first one at full speed, as could my last ATI AIW Radeon VE (7000). The second one won’t run at fullspeed for me, however.
What are your current specs and favorite games? CPS2 games, for instance, don’t need a P4 (Killer Instinct does though, and thensome maybe), but my aging P3 666Mhz/512MB RAM had trouble running MSH vs SF and MvC at fullspeed. Most of the other CPS2 games it ran without issue.
