That’s fine, but if that’s the case, don’t put it into the rules that you’re following the tournament standard, because there is no tournament standard for 1500+ attendees.
It seems you want to get technical. In our official ruleset listed on evo.shoryuken.com, it does not say 2/3 or 3/5.
I’m pointing out the inconsistency in the ruleset posted in evo.shoryuken.com. Please see the earlier quote, it says right in the ruleset, that you are following the community standard, which you are not. I believe the ruleset should be changed in the wording to either add an asterisk that UMVC3 is an exception, or remove the wording that you are following the community standard altogether.

The problem lies where you are not understanding where you are pulling information from. The post you are quoting is from a front page post, not the official Evo ruleset.

I know this is going to be a weird question. But how big where the pools at Evo before they added SFIV?
So, let me get this straight Mr. Wizard. There isn’t enough time to play 3/5 pools for Marvel, but you can conveniently find enough time to add Injustice to the EVO roster?
Soooo is it 3/5 or 2/3 for Marvel pools? I’d say the vast majority of players attending would agree that 2/3 pools for Marvel is an awful idea.

Pools will never be 3/5 games. We are waiting till Marvel closes before we make a determination on repeating last years decision to make non pool games 3/5.
So there’s a chance that even non-pool matches are 2/3?

For those who missed it, everything after pools will be 3 out of 5.
Marvel already has X-factor that can give away a win to a less skilled player. If your running 2/3 in pools, everyone may as well run one of 2 teams - phoenix, or anti-phoenix. Players who normally wouldn’t stand a chance against Justin Wong will have the opportunity to get lucky and gimmick their way through.
Not that Fruitsy is a bad player by no means, but that’s exactly what he did in a lot of his matches last year. Kill a character, then burn all the time out. Nobody had a chance to adjust to this unforeseen strategy.
Anybody see F. Champ vs ChrisG at ECT5? 3/5 and champ showed he had a gameplan specifically for him. F. Champ won the first match convincingly because of his new anti-chrisg strategy. Then in the second match it came down to dark phoenix vs doom which is obviously in phoenix’s favor, but champ choked. After those two matches, chrisG accommodated enough to deal with it.
after pools evo is going to be a joke if it stays 2/3, and i’m guessing at least 1/2 of the players will be running some sort of gimmick teams. Maybe sleepy face will make top 16 this time around.
